Today is for Day 13 of our Catvent is our little kitten, Silver! ⛄🎁

Little Silver was part of a multi-cat household we helped the Blue Cross and RSPCA Little Valley with back in January. Silver was only 3 months old, and he had an upset tummy on arrival. 🐾 Our vet ran tests on his stool samples which came back clear so we did a couple of different diet trials to help his tummy and stools settle. Once he was responding well to his gastro diet, he could finally be neutered. After a few months in care, Silver was adopted by a lovely couple. Silver is now called Roko, they have told us that he enjoys company, he is cheeky and inquisitive. They absolutely adore him; we are so happy for them and hope they have a lovely Christmas. 🎄

It's 😺Meet Tootsie a beautiful young cat who is looking for just the right type of home. She is looking for a home where she can start off in an outbuilding such as a summer house, stable, etc. and get used to her new surroundings on her own terms. When she is ready to Tootsie may to want to venture into the house for some creature comforts and potentially some fuss in the future. She's had a hard time recently and so would need understanding owners who are happy to give her time and accept her for whatever sort of cat she wants to be. Tootsie would best suit a home with no other pets or children. If you can offer what Tootsie is looking for then please apply today 🐾

Meet Whitepaws on Day 12 of our Catvent Calendar! ❄🐾

Our volunteers will remember our loveable stray boy Whitepaws! ✨This gorgeous boy was found living in a garden before he was brought into our care. We tried to find an owner for him, sadly we were successful. Whitepaws started his vaccinations, he was neutered, microchipped and needed a dental as well. Once he was healed from his operations, he was ready to find a home. 🏠He was quickly adopted by a lovely family who has renamed him Boris. They have told us that Boris or Mr B has settled in well and has been going out in his new garden, which included some impressive tree climbing. They said he does not stay out long in case he misses a feed. 😻

Help cats like Whitepaws by coming along and spending some money at our Christmas Coffee Morning tomorrow at the centre between 10am and 1pm!

Meet McGraw on Day 11 of our Catvent Calendar! ✨🎄🎁

McGraw was one of our long stays and our volunteers will know him well. You may have seen him featured on Facebook in our keeping white cats safe in the sun posts over the summer. ☀ Earlier in the year, we took in a loveable older boy we named McGraw. He was living in a garden for many months before he came into care. When he arrived, he had scabby skin on his back and skin cancer on his ears. He was put on a course of steroids to help clear up his skin and once that had all healed up, he needed an operation to remove the cancerous areas on his ears. Being a senior cat our vet has ran routine urine and blood tests, he was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and was put on medication to stabilise that. Once his thyroid levels were stable, he had a thyroidectomy operation. During his stay he became very popular with our RWAs and volunteers, he adored our company and liked chatty to us. Our RWA Debbie who loves the senior needy cats and had a soft spot for McGraw and wanted to adopt him. 🏡 McGraw is loving life in his new home; he spends lots of time curled up on a lap enjoying chin tickles and pottering around in the garden. We hope they have a wonderful first Christmas together. ✨

Happy , everyone!

Remember Bam Bam? She was underweight and her skin was in a bad state when she arrived in our care in March (right pic).
We recently had a lovely update from her adopters saying that Sybil, as she is now named, is living her best life in her new home 😻You can see from the photo (left pic) that her coat is now healthy and beautiful, and that she's relaxed and happy in the winter sunshine. We're so happy for Sybil and her new family 🥰

He's still available - special home needed. ❤

Mojito is a very beautiful, and extremely lively and mischievous kitten. He needs a home where he will be the only pet in the household, with a safe, secure and spacious garden well away from roads - flu has left him with only one eye, which makes him vulnerable. We are working through a behaviour plan with Mojito, as he is quite bitey with hands-on contact - we would discuss this at length with potential adopters as the plan would be continued post-adoption, liaising with our Behaviour Team. Could you could be Mojito's perfect match?

(RESERVED) - Pebbles is your typical playful and mischievous kitten. She could live with children or other cat-friendly pets with careful introductions. When she's older and wiser she'll enjoy a safe garden to explore away from busy roads. She will make a fabulous addition to your home.

Wizz has been described as handsome, clever, very affectionate but sometimes a little over-boisterous. He loves to sit on a lap and really does like to play. Wizz likes a small ball which has bell inside, also dangling soft toy on a stick with string. Wizz is a very handsome, strong male tabby cat, he can be very affectionate and loving more often than not on his own terms, like a lot of cats. Because of Wizz's nature he is looking for a adult only home with no other pets. He loves access to the great outdoors, so will need a safe garden to explore away from busy roads.

Mary is a lovely kitten looking for her forever home, she is happy to be around you but prefers to bond through play, She can be a little worried at times and a little skittish around fast movements and loud noises. Mary is looking for a quiet calm home where she can be given the time to settle at her own pace. She could be homed with older cat aware children, who will respect her space. She is very sweet and would make a lovely addition to the home. When she has grown she would like some safe outdoor access so that she can explore the world around her.

Our Story

Welcome to Exeter Axhayes Adoption Centre’s page. Our centre is one of the oldest Cats Protection adoption centres which opened back in 1988. We currently re-home approximately 900-1,000 cats a year. We help neuter approximately 600 cats and kittens a year. Our centre is one of the largest adoption centres in the UK with about 200 cats and kittens in our care. Our centre consists of separate areas for admissions, isolation, maternity and rehoming. We also have a veterinary room where a vet health checks, vaccinates and microchips every cat that comes into our centre. Our cats and kittens have all been fully vaccinated, health checked by our vet, neutered (over 4 months old), microchipped, de-flead and wormed. Our cats come with 4 weeks free insurance when homed. The average cost of looking after a cat in our care can reach well over £200, and this does not include any necessary treatment. To help our costs we ask for an adoption fee of £70 per kitten and cat under 12 years old, £60 per cat 12 years + and any donations are gratefully received. Our page editors Gemma, Diane and Poppy (Cat care assistants who work at the adoption centre) will do their best to answer any questions you have. For any urgent questions please contact the centre. If you are interested in adopting any of our cats or kittens featured on Facebook please call the centre on 01395 232377 to book a home visit. Thank you everyone for all of your support.
