Devon Choice and Support Services Devon Choice and Support Services will be launching two new services in August 2011:

1.

The Devon Personal Assistant Bank
A Personal Assistant (PA) is someone who is employed to help an individual live independently and do the activities they want to do. The Devon PA Bank makes the recruitment of Personal Assistants easy by bringing Personal Assistants and people looking to recruit a Personal Assistant together. The service enables you to search through a list of Personal Assistants

or agencies in Devon and advertise Personal Assistant vacancies. We can also offer further support with the recruitment and employment of Personal Assistants.

2. Community Support Service
The aim of this new service is to alleviate the social isolation experienced by many adults with limited mobility and assist them to continue to remain independent in their own homes. The service will be provided by volunteers recruited and trained by paid volunteer co-ordinators. Examples of the type of support that will be offered include:-

• Support to do odd jobs or activities around the house – gardening, cake baking, dog walking
• Paperwork
• Company to pop to the shops or visit a relative/friend
• Time to just talk with someone
