These help Bryson cope with fireworks.
If anyone has a dog who has fireworks anxiety, please check this out

It’s nearly that time of year again.
Does your dog look forward to fireworks season? Or like our Bryson do they dread the nights of loud bangs?

For the last few years, these tablets have definitely helped Bryson cope with the stress of fireworks night. Also using the valerian liquid as a booster on the evening.

They can help your dog too. But the time to act is NOW. For the best effect we start them 3 weeks before bonfire night. So with many displays happening on Saturday 1st November, that means we will be using them from today.

We have taken the decision to cancel training for tonight as it still feels very hot .
Messages have been sent out to everyone but just in case you don’t get them, we are posting it here also.

A roundup of our Champs 2025.
Foundation team came 3rd.
Open team came 5th with a new fastest time of 20.50

But the real story is not about racing and results. It goes so much beyond that. It how this team of dogs and humans pull together to make this all happen. How they go above and beyond for one another. There’s no egos, it’s a collective effort.
And they all come together to pull each other through the difficult times that crop up.

Thursdays speed trials didn’t exactly go according to plan. We had dogs dropping balls, missing a jump, or running out altogether. We also needed medical attention in the ring when one of our handlers collapsed in the ring.

On foundation Friday, every clean run was cheered by the rest of the team. They have all seen the journey those dogs have been through and celebrated the success of seeing them deliver clean runs at the champs.

On Saturday we had a day off from racing and ring party. Some of the team headed to a nearby zoo. The others took the dogs for a group walk to have a splash about. This is something we don’t really ever get to do. We should definitely do it more often. The dogs had so much fun running and splashing around together, forming thise all important bonds.
Back at camp, we did some training exercises to try and correct some of the error from Thursday.

The result? In the first race of Sunday they smashed their best time by over half a second.

This is the kind of club where people are confident enough to say “I can’t make the next competition, but would someone like to take my dog to race?” Or “we are going to the zoo, would you like us to take your 2 year old? Sure, why not” when we needed medical attention in the ring, her first thought was “I don’t want to let the team down” the collective response was “don’t be daft! You’re more important than a flyball race”

The vibe in camp all week was like that of being away on a family holiday. And that’s what this club is. Family. The flyball family. And that makes me as their captain prouder than anything else.

So this mornings racing looked a bit like this.
Also featuring a breakout time.

Today the team had a rare day off at the champs. So we found a nice walk nearby to let the dogs have some fun play bonding away from the lanes.

Friday night saw the humans let their hair down a bit. The champs theme was “opposites” We chose red cartoon characters, and for the opposite, boys went as girls and girls went as boys 🤣. Can you recognise any of our members?

Our foundation team, the Dumnonii. All did so well in the rings this weekend. Some of them were making their champs debut.

Red - he was all about speed, fast turns and barking 😅. Kept his focus on all but 1 of his runs.

Bluebell - she wowed the crowds with cuteness and delivered clean runs on all but 1 run when she was judged to have dropped the ball just before the line.

Rogue - absolutely smashed it this year with 100% clean runs. A huge difference to last year when she decided to try a box turn off the backboard and leap over the netting. Could we see her in open racing next year? 🤞🤞🤞

Daisy - one of our debutants this year. She had a mixed day with some lovely fast clean runs, and a couple of chases missing the jumps. But she did it all with infectious enthusiasm 🥰

Bella - also her champs debut, and running for a different handler. She was a speedy little rocket in the morning, faulting only once with a ball fumble. She tired a bit in the afternoon. But overall we are pleased with the way she settled with Cerys and coped with the busy competition arena.

Poppy - possibly the star of the day? Not only is this her 1st champs, but only her 3rd competition overall. Whilst she is paw perfect in training, she has found the competition rings overwhelming. And the same thing happened in the morning. So we made a little change, got a new toy, and in the afternoon, she aced it with 100% clean runs. But more importantly, she looked happy and confident.

Overall we are very pleased with all our dogs and handlers. They all stick together when things don’t quite go according to plan, lifting each other up and giving encouragement. It’s this that makes us refer to all of them as “the flyball family “

09/08/2025

On Friday our foundation team raced their little hearts out. They came 3rd in their division, scoring 70% clean runs.

Our final foundation dog is our forever foundation dog.

Bluebell- Smallest and sassiest in the team
Breed: Pug x French bulldog RetrieverAge: 6 years 11 months old
Team: Foundation

Bluebell, the foundation dog with the biggest split personality you’ve ever seen. Bluebell will do anything for a treat…unless she doesn’t want too, Bluebell will be the most consistent dog going in flyball…unless she doesn’t want too, Bluebell will be friends with her teammates…unless that day she doesn’t want too… if you haven’t guessed there’s a theme here with Bluebell😂 Bluebell is a very fun and loving girl who loves a cuddle, especially if it comes from her team captin Chris, who she’ll do absolutely anything for (more so than her owner). She has been doing flyball for a good few years now and sadly has never made it past foundation due to her “pick and choose” personality and will do it when she wants too. It’s the best thing in the world to her and she enjoys it so much, when she wants to be she’s amazing at flyball but sadly can’t use the box due to her arthritis in her front legs. But as long as Bluebell has everyone’s attention and is being cheered on from the sidelines, she will absolutely smash racing with her extremely steady speed of around 2mph😂

Handler - Dionne
Dionne is also a professional dog walker and also box loads for the open team.
