☀️ Hot Weather & Dogs: What Every Owner Needs to Know!
As temperatures rise, it’s important to remember that dogs can overheat much faster than we do and heat exhaustion can become dangerous very quickly.
Dogs don’t just struggle because of the temperature. Stress, excitement, over-arousal, travelling, busy environments, training, playing, or even pulling on the lead can all increase their body temperature and make it harder for them to cool down.
🥵Warning signs of heat exhaustion can include:
• Heavy or excessive panting
• Drooling more than usual
• Red or very pale gums
• Wobbliness or weakness
• Lethargy or confusion
• Vomiting or diarrhoea
• Collapse or seizures
Make the most of the cooler parts of the day!☁️
Our secure fields are available to hire from as early as 5am, which is around sunrise at the moment - perfect for giving your dog a safe run before the day heats up.
And with sunset now around 9pm, you can also book our fields from 9–10pm for a cooler evening walk.
Many of us happily walk our dogs in the dark during winter, so why not do the same on warm summer evenings - for their sake? 💛
On hot days, choose calm activities, keep sessions short, avoid the hottest parts of the day, and remember: missing one walk is far safer than risking heatstroke.
