Q : Is Citronella banned for competition?
A : We are often asked this question at this time of year but, don’t worry, citronella products are competition legal. Citronella is not legally recognised as an insect repellent, and so there is a legal restriction preventing companies from marketing citronella products as insect repellents for horses, but that is the only ban, and it does not impact competition use.

While some horses cope well with colder weather, those who are naturally poorer doers are more at risk of unwanted weight loss in the winter. Ensuring they maintain a good fibre intake is essential, as is providing any additional calories lost from keeping warm.
