** URGENT FOSTER HOME NEEDED **

Beautiful 10-month-old Indie came to the Shelter due to a change in family circumstances. Sadly, he is not at all happy at the Shelter so we are hoping to find a foster home for him as soon as possible.

We were told by his previous owner that he has lived happily in the home (with other dogs) but since arriving at the Shelter he has shut down and we have been unable to carry out our usual assessment process with him.

Indie needs an experienced, adult-only foster home where he can be given the help and support he will need to readjust to living in a home environment - he might like to live with a friendly dog who can teach him how to be a dog!

While in kennels he is very stressed and gets spooked by unfamiliar noises so he will need a nice quiet area in the home to retreat to and recover when he feels nervous. However, he does love food and enrichment items so in the right environment we hope he will do well, and we will start to see his personality coming out.

We are told that he has not been walked on a lead before and we haven’t been able to encourage him to use one during his time with us so his training will need to start from scratch once he has settled into his new home. Because of this, his foster home will need a secure garden.

FULL TRANSPARENCY!! Regarding THE XL BULLY BAN

Here is what my insurance has emailed me today. Hopefully that will clear some of your questions and concerns.

Considering the government’s recent announcement to place XL Bully type dogs on the DDA (Dangerous Dog Act), we have reviewed our policy in order to widen it to include covering dogs on the DDA.

We will be able to cover banned breeds, subject to them having an exemption certificate.

It is a condition precedent to liability that for any dog which is a banned breed under the dangerous dogs act 1991 and/or as subsequently amended within the united kingdom the following guidelines are strictly adhered to whilst the dog is in your care, custody or control:

1. The dog is registered with the index of exempted dog (IED) and a copy of the life certificate is obtained and provided to us in the event of a claim.

2. A copy of the public liability insurance certificate for the dog is obtained and provided to us in the event of a claim.

3. The dog handler ratio is 1:1 at all times.

4. All guidelines under the index of exempted dogs are strictly adhered to and the dog must be:

i. Neutered

ii. Micro Chipped

iii. Kept on a lead and muzzled at all times

iv. Kept in a secure place, so it cannot escape

When we punish dogs for growling, we aren't helping them feel better about whatever it is that is threatening them. Instead, we are teaching to stop letting us know when they feel unsafe.

The result? A dog who stops giving warning signs and "bites out of the blue."

💚💚 Our mini main man Dodge!! 💚💚

He really is as awesome as he looks 🥰

Dodge has been back with us for over 9 months now and is desperate to get out of kennels. He gets so excited for his time out for walks and a bit of normality after growing up in a home. Dodge is a small to medium sized boy and is around 3 years old.

Dodge will thrive in a calm and quiet adult only home. He gets overstimulated by children and lots of noise so a home without children or visiting children would be ideal for him. Dodge also seems fearful of older men with white hair. We’re not sure why and we wish he could tell us 😞
He responds really well to positive training, praise and rewards! Dodge could live with another dog, he can be boisterous and a bit dominant with smaller dogs but soon calms down. He has a fantastic and funny personality once he has made friends with you and needs a person to commit to him.

Dodge is not suitable to live with small furries or children.

Dodge loves to go walking and is great on the lead! He would suit an active home who like to do lots of exploring.

Dodge is:
❤️ Neutered
❤️ fully Vaccinated
❤️ treated for fleas and worms
❤️ microchipped
❤️ good on lead
❤️ housetrained (although may need some reminding after being in kennels)
❤️ dog friendly

All of our dogs come with full rescue back up for life and 4 weeks free insurance. Dodge is located in South Wales. All applicants will need to undergo a homecheck and an adoption donation of £400 will apply.

Albert is still looking for his forever home 😢He needs a quiet, calm home with owners prepared to help him with his anxieties and settling in. Albert has been with us for a year, his forever home is proving hard to find. We will keep trying - we know his special someone is out there! 🤞

Albert 11 years old. Despite his anxiety he is affectionate and cuddly ♥️ He is in good health, but has a bit of arthritis in his legs. He enjoys his walks - 30 minute quiet walks are good 🐕‍🦺 Albert needs a home where someone is around most of the time - to make him feel settled and secure. We are looking for a home for him no further than about an hour’s drive from the kennels in Stoke

Nothing to see here! No I honestly haven’t been on mum's Christmas Sherry and had to sleep it off...There are other reasons why I’m carrying my blanket and my back legs are doing their own thing… honest! 😳🥰

It's Sunday and what a week!😅 I hope you all are having a great weekend and remember to keep your doggos safe from those nasty fireworks 💥 💥 Walks with Francesca Dogs Top Tips💥 🟢 Den - build a den for your dog to hide in with blankets to muffle the noise 🟢 Cutains - keep all curtains and blinds shut 🟢 Noise - have plenty of background noise using the TV or radio. Classic FM have a special show just for dogs https://www.classicfm.com/radio/shows-presenters/pet-classics/ 🟢 Tools - Remember to use these if you already have them in the house - plug in calming adapter (only effective if used frequently, running up to the event) and Thunder Jackets 🟢 Calm - Stay calm yourself - dogs are very sensitive and can pick up on your emotions. If you are stressed your dog will pick up on this and will believe there is something to worry about. Carry on with your usual routine. 🟢 Walks - keep these to daytime only - even at dusk fireworks may start going off. 🟢 Displays - Familiarise yourself with when these will be taking place, not all will be on the 5th and you do not want to be caught out. There may even be more during the week and next weekend so be prepared! 🟢 ID - Make sure your pets ID is up to date. This is for collars and microchips. If anything does go wrong, your pets ID is the tool that you need to get them back. Best to keep your dog on the lead during fireworks season to be super safe 😊 (Video of Fred🥰)
