Fizz has certainly been a project, but one that has taught me so much.

When I first started working with her, she was extremely anxious, carrying a significant amount of tension throughout her body, particularly through her neck.
Combined with discomfort from sharp teeth, gaining her trust was the first challenge before any meaningful treatment could begin.

Every horse is different, and Fizz has required me to adapt my skills, knowledge, and approach to suit her individual needs.
Building her confidence, working at her pace, and listening to what she was telling me has been just as important as the hands-on treatment itself.

With dental issues addressed and ongoing massage therapy helping to release tension and improve comfort, she is gradually learning to relax and accept treatment. Seeing those small signs of trust and progress makes all the patience worthwhile.

Fizz is a reminder that successful treatment isn't always about the technique—sometimes it's about taking the time to understand the horse in front of you and adapting your approach to help them feel safe.

I am passionate about helping horses feel and perform at their best, whether they are competition horses, happy hackers, returning to work, or enjoying retirement.

Today I popped to see how Fizz was doing following her treatment on Monday, I wanted to check on how she was physically moving and her emotional wellbeing.
It was really pleasing to see she has processed her treatment from Monday well, she was physically softer and appeared happier and more relaxed in herself.

Her work load has increased recently and she has been carrying a lot of tension, she was clearly not very happy and was very guarded when I first arrived to treat her on Monday.

I kept her treatment to the minimum and she did relax towards the end of her session with some satisfying releases. I approached her session with less is more and a plan to re visit.

Following treatment, the focus for Fizz will be gentle movement, relaxation, and allowing the body to work comfortably again combined with a tailored treatment plan moving forward over the next month.

• Quiet lunging without aids initially
• Encouraging natural stretch and rhythm
• Large circles and plenty of walk work
• Short, supportive ridden sessions
• Relaxed hacks including some steady hill work
• Relaxation before outline
• Allowing the muscles to strengthen gradually

The aim is to help reduce tension, improve comfort, and encourage softer movement through the body.

As workload increases, horses naturally experience muscle fatigue, tightness, and strain — just like human athletes. Repetitive training, competition, travelling, and changes in intensity can all place stress on the muscular system.
