Good afternoon
As you know Moyfield Riding School was set up by Joan Bomford, our dear mother, in 1955 and we have had the privilege to provide so many unforgettable experiences to children and their parents since.
As we all know Joan was passionate about the school. She was the leader and driving force of Moyfield which ensured that the school continued operating even as she reached the grand age of 90 years and beyond, as a family we are incredibly proud of this and everything she achieved.
What you may not know is that Joan, Lydia and the family, under the guidance of Wychavon District Council and DEFRA have been made aware that the school will not pass another riding school licence without some investment we have been working to an improvement plan for the school and progress was being made ready for the next inspection in September.
However, the passing of Joan in January this year and the work to manage the future of her estate, and despite the sterling work done by Lydia, has meant that progress on the improvement plan has come to a halt.
We have spent some difficult hours and days considering the options for the future of the school. We are not able to make the investment required at this time. It is therefore with heavy hearts and great regret that we have decided to close the school from 19th September when the license expires.
We know this news will come as a huge disappointment to you and especially your children.
We are very sorry to have to take this decision.
The school will remain open as usual until 19th September and we will continue to provide riding lessons and stable experience until then.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your loyalty and support to Moyfield and Joan over the many years.
We are looking into potential alternatives, however as we speak currently the schools last day in operation will be September 19th 2025
PLEASE NOTE ALL horses and ponies will be staying in their home untill a further plan should be made, our horses are our family and will continue to be cared for and loved.
Yours sincerely The Bomford Family
