Here at Cotswold Dog Baths we thickness plane all our wood to ensure conformity and a great finish. All our wood is tanalised and as such is protected against weather (all four seasons) , wood-rot and insect infestations.
Staining is an optional extra, free of charge with all our baths. At the end of a build we coat our baths three times with exterior wood stain, which further protects our baths from the elements. It is a great sight to see a bath outside for the first time, in the rain, with water beading off. This protection along with the tanalised properties of the wood should out live not only your dogs life, but also your own!
We do sometimes have requests to not stain a customers bath, which is absolutely fine. We do, however, implore them that before use, they should stain/paint with a suitable product of their choice. The tanalisation properties of the wood will still protect the bath from the weather, wood-rot and insect infestation for a number of years however the extra protection stain/paint can give the bath is unparalleled to leaving it left 'au natural'.
