Ear hair!!

Hairy dogs unfortunately come with hairy ears that are a breeding ground for bacteria and wax build up if left dirty.
A must is to clean ears regularly in between grooms with an ear cleaning solution.
On request only I will pluck ear hair… if and only if the dog is comfortable doing so! If not I will refer to a vet for the service. This MUST be requested at each groom.
Vets often reference ear hair plucking as being the ‘groomers’ job but the RCVS (governing body for vets) stopped groomers doing it routinely as they classed it as a procedure that should only be carried out by a vet.

I have no appointments now until the second week of August and then very limited!
Booking appointments in advance is always best if your dog is on a regular grooming cycle not to miss out.

Tomorrows dogs are ok to go ahead as I’ve very kindly been offered an AC unit for the day!
I’ve now also ordered a unit (but unfortunately it will not arrive in time for Saturdays dogs 😢) as I think we haven’t seen the end of these extremely hot temperatures.
I will be in touch will all owners tomorrow regarding Saturday and a plan going forward but I’m hoping to get most of the dogs in on Sunday if it suits everyone

Temperatures are due to sore Friday and Saturday with forecasts of temps to reach up to 30c and possibly beyond!

We try hard to keep the salon cool enough for the dogs but with the heat of the driers going all day and the expected temps this might prove to be too difficult on these days!

Dogs can easily overheat and if I feel the need for safety reasons to cancel appointments I will be left with no choice.

If anyone is wishing to cancel their appointment as they are concerned over the possible temperatures that’s absolutely fine and my next available appointment will be offfered.

On the plus side by Sunday it’s set to cool down and all/if any dogs that are cancelled will be offered a new appointment on a cooler day with us working our usual days off to cover them!

As the forecast is differing daily I will update tomorrow if any changes are needed and message all owners affected.

My priority is and always will be the dogs in my care!

Just a reminder please do not walk dogs to the salon on extremely hot days and prepare your car prior to your jounery to us by allowing it to cool down with the AC for a few minutes before you travel!

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ

Unfortunately Jade has appendicitis and is in hospital due to have her operation tomorrow.
The diary is full to bursting with appointments and I’ll be working alone for a good couple of weeks.
That being said I can not physically do all the dogs booked in on the days they are but I will be working extra days to compensate. I’ll be in touch with some to rearrange to make it a more manageable.

Wow what a year! The best yet and I can’t thank you all for trusting us with your precious pooches.

Sod’s Law leading up to Christmas and everyone wanting their dogs looking smart!
Today my shower gave up and I had to cancel the remainder of the days dogs. It’s all fixed now so good to go!
Saying that I’ve had to rearranged all those dogs to tomorrow, working earlier and later than normal as I hate letting anyone down.
Please try not to be late to your appointment and I always try to give 15 mins notice before completion of the groom so again please collect promptly. This will make an extra busy day move more smoothly.

Last weekend I took Kenya to a grooming competition. A first for her and myself in this category (Asian)
We were not placed but I was more than happy with my little girl she did me super proud and took everything in her stride.
Great feedback from my judges and a lot to work on but we will get there!
