WE NEED YOUR HELP – Deadline 11th Feb 🚨
One of our long term aims is legislative change in Spain. Change that puts a stop to the suffering of thousands of Podencos and other hunting dogs each year.
You’ll see and hear more about the work we’re doing in this space over the coming months, but for now there is a limited window of time to share your thoughts with the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture (MAPA) on a proposed new Royal Decree that could seriously impact hunting dogs and animal sanctuaries.
The draft is loosely defined and risks classifying hunting dogs as livestock, removing important welfare protections. It could also bring non-profit sanctuaries and rescue centres like the ones we work with under regulations designed for farms. Both would be a huge step backwards for animal welfare.
This is an early public consultation stage, which means voices now can influence what the law becomes. You do not need to be a Spanish citizen to take part. Anyone can submit a response.
The easiest way is to use this link (will add to bio and post to stories so it’s clickable) which includes a template you can personalise:

Or you can email your own message directly to:
[email protected]
It only takes a few minutes, but the more people who speak up, the stronger the message that hunting dogs are not livestock and shelters are not farms. If you care about Podencos and the dogs we work so hard to protect, please consider lending your voice to the voiceless. Every single voice counts. Use yours to make a difference.
