☀️🐾 A Kind Reminder About Dogs & Hot Weather 🐾☀️

This is just a gentle message to all dog owners as the temperatures rise, please be extra careful with your furry friends in the heat. Dogs can overheat so quickly, even on days that don’t feel “too hot” to us.

When dogs are in my care, their comfort and safety in warm weather is my top priority. Here’s how I make sure they’re kept cool and happy:
🐶 Cool indoors – Air conditioning inside the house and fans throughout every room.
💧 Hydration everywhere – Fresh water bowls in every room and outside in the gardens.
🏊 Paddling pools – Clean, fresh water daily for splashing or paddling.
🌅 Safe walks – Only early morning strolls when it’s cooler, with the option to swim (with owners permission).
🚶‍♀️ Prepared on the go – Fresh water bottles taken on every walk.
🍦 Frozen treats – Homemade doggy ice lollies always ready in the freezer for a refreshing snack.

Please remember, a short walk in the cool is far safer than risking heatstroke in the sun. Sometimes the best summer memories for dogs are made paddling, playing in the shade, and snoozing in the cool!

Four dogs. One household. Zero peace and quiet.
All from the same family, and they’ve brought the full chaotic cousin energy to Plums Tail Wag Inn this week 🐾😂
It’s a full on furry takeover, I can’t sit down without being followed, sat on, or judged by a squad of wagging tails and puppy eyes.
Keeping me on my toes (and occasionally tripping me up), but I wouldn’t change it for the world!
It’s mad, it’s loud, it’s cuddly and it’s exactly how I love it.

Meet Tessa, our incredible little guest who’s been gracing us with her presence here at Plums Tail Wag Inn. At a remarkable 18 years old, this sweet Jack Russell still carries the same gentle spark in her eyes, the same quiet strength in her paws.

She amazes us with every visit, not just because of her age, but because of her grace, resilience, and spirit. 💛

We feel so privileged to be part of her golden years. Tessa, you are pure inspiration in a fur coat.

If you’ve followed us for a while, you’ll know Plums Tail Wag Inn has always been about heartfelt, home-from-home care for dogs. That hasn’t changed, but now, we’re expanding our purpose just a little further.

You might start noticing some new posts and a slightly different tone here on our page and I wanted to take a moment to explain why.

✨ 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫: 𝐏𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐬 & 𝐃𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐲 🐾

Alongside running our luxury dog boarding service, I’ve started something incredibly close to my heart, one-to-one companionship visits, inspired by Dotty, my beautiful, calm-natured dog, and a moment I’ll never forget… When my grandma was alive, a local therapy dog used to do its rounds. I still remember how her face lit up when that dog came in, the way she stroked it gently, the joy and calm it brought her, even in a quiet room. That moment has stayed with me ever since.

Dotty, with her soft, gentle presence, has the same gift, she makes people feel at ease. Safe. Seen. Loved. And I knew with her temperament and heart, we could do something truly special for others who may be feeling a little isolated or in need of connection.

So now, alongside our regular dog boarding updates, I’ll also be sharing more about Dotty & Me our companionship service for:
🪑 Elderly individuals at home or in care
🌼 People living with memory loss
🧩 Those missing company, conversation, or simply someone to sit beside

Whether it’s a walk, a puzzle, a chat over a cuppa, or just quiet, calming company, we’re here to bring light to someone’s day, one visit at a time.

We’re based in Emneth and cover surrounding areas too, willing to travel.
