As the weather begins to warm up, and with temperatures expected to reach around 35°C next week, which is unusually hot for this early in the year, we’re going to trial a few small adjustments to our walking routine this year to help keep dogs safe and comfortable during higher temperatures, whilst also exploring some new ways to make warm-weather days fun and enriching for them. ☀️🐾
All affected clients have already been contacted directly regarding next week’s arrangements; however, I also wanted to make a general post for visibility and clarity going forward. 💜
Our current heat policy remains the same:
• Any walks scheduled above 22°C will automatically become home visits instead of outdoor walks.
We’re also considering offering some walks even earlier in the morning, particularly for suitable dogs who enjoy swimming or water-based adventures so they can still get out safely before the heat builds up. 🐶💦
If you would prefer to keep your usual time slot, this will instead become a home visit for toilet breaks, enrichment, play, feeding, water refresh and company indoors/in shaded gardens.
Home visits can still be plenty of fun and mentally enriching too, from gentle garden games and splash pads, to puzzle toys from my “box of magic”, soft toy play, sniff-based enrichment and even temporary agility equipment for dogs who enjoy learning and movement without overexerting themselves.

Thank you for your patience whilst we adapt to warmer weather routines. The dogs’ safety and well-being will always come first.
