Gorgeous Kira, Yorkie/Bichon had her first Handsome Hounds groom today and was an absolute star!!
Too nervous for a before photo, but considering she is quite scared of life and mainly humans touching her, she did incredibly well. Super proud of her 🥰

Today I had a no show customer, which was really disappointing. I appreciate things happen and life gets in the way, but if you find yourself unable to attend your appointment, I would really appreciate letting me know. Summer is a busy time of year and I have a cancellation list the length of my arm, so for a customer to just not show up it’s not only a loss of earnings but it also takes up an appointment from a dog who could have really done with a groom in this warm weather.
I appreciate you all so much, thankfully these situations don’t happen a lot, but when they do, it’s really disheartening and unfair.

☀️ ☀️ A question I get asked every year and I’m happy to share the info to ensure we are keeping our dogs safe in the warmer weather ☀️ ☀️

🌞 Is it too hot to walk my dog?
As a general rule, walking your dog at any temperature below 20C is ideal. Most dogs are comfortable at temperatures between 15-25°C, but this is very much dependent on their age, breed, size, coat length, amount of exercise they're engaging in, health and fitness.
The hotter the temperature, the higher the risk to your dog.
Some dogs are at higher risk from the heat than others, so be extra careful:
Overweight dogs
Brachycephalic breeds, such as French Bulldogs and Pugs
Older dogs over 8-years-old
Younger dogs under 6-months-old

During the hot summer months, take your dog out before 8am or after 8pm when temperatures cool down. Offer them plenty of fresh water and choose shaded areas if you can.
Think wisely and remember mental stimulation is just as important as physical exercise, so play games indoors if it’s too hot to walk 🐾
