Happy Hounds Adventures Supportive scentwork, parkour & brain games. Having fun to create calm, confidence & a perfect bond. It can be done anywhere, and at any age.

The activities we offer help to build confidence and focus in your dog, working their brains and their bodies. Mental stimulation is so important for a dog's welfare and can make so much difference to their lives. It can help with various behaviour problems and helps strengthen the bond between you and your dog leading to a much better relationship. The great thing about scentwork is, it allows yo

ur dog to be themselves and let their personality shine. We work in partnership with our dogs, supporting them when necessary and creating a super sniffing detector team! Mantrailing can be particularly helpful for dog's who are fearful of Humans, and also those who are dog reactive as they work individually without other dogs around them. This is where we are teaching the dogs to search for a 'missing' person. Parkour is not only fun, but again can help with behaviour issues as some of the exercises are proven to change neural pathways in the brain. The dogs learn to navigate on to Exercises, over, under, around various different obstacles which are done slowly, giving the dog a chance to focus, and think. The exercises help build strength, body awareness and confidence. All of the activities we offer are a fun way to build a better relationship, and have a well balanced (excuse the pun) dog. We offer Scentwork, Parkour, Mantrailing (Lost & Found), 'Sherlock Bones' events, online trivia for you and your dog and a whole lot of fun

Baxter 🌈🐾💔

Baxter joined in our adventures at the age of 12. Putting himself to Parkour and Lost & Found like any of the youngsters.

He's climbed his last mountain, ever the intrepid explorer, and will be hugely missed by Shannon and the rest of his family.

"Have you had much trauma in your life?"

A question I was asked about 3 years ago which I replied with a very blazè "not really, just general life stuff" 🤷‍♀️

Sept '13 - My Mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

March '14 - Our dog, Merlin, started having cluster seizures.

April '14 - Our cat Brambles was run over outside our house and had to have her leg amputated.

Dec '14 - We lost Merlin to status epilepticus (it was horrific).

April '15 - Our dog Harry was diagnosed with cancer.

Sept '15 - We lost our Mum.

Sept - Oct '15 - I spent 3 - 4 weeks fighting to have Mum buried with her family in Littleport.

Aug '16 - Harry had to have emergency stomach surgery. 🔺️

July '17 - Harry's cancer returned. He had half a lung lobe and his thyroid removed.

Dec '17 - We lost Harry.

All of these were traumatic incidents in my life.

💪 I pushed on, because that's what you do. I thought it made me strong. Made me a warrior, and for that I was proud.

Ultimately, it made me ill.

I never acknowledged all that I'd been through, as many of us don't.

If we stop and face it then we might crumble, so we keep going.

However, your body will make you stop if you don't.
If you ignore its quiet nudges eventually it will have to SHOUT.

I underestimated the effect all of these things had on my Wellbeing.

I've learned (and am sometimes still learning) the lessons.
I understand my Nervous System and know the signs.
I make decisions from this place and put myself first.

It was a bright and early start to beat the hot weather and they all coped fabulously well.

Did you know that the boss, AKA Mother, is a Wellbeing Ambassador for Humans as well as dogs?

Did you know we used to meditate together because when I'd get anxious she'd get anxious and then, according to her, the vicious cycle would begin.

And who wants a vicious cycle?

Sometimes, the hoomans are spending sooo much time tending to our every need they haven't got time to tend to their own needs.

That's where Mum comes in.

She helps you train your brain to focus on good stuff, like snacks and walks and pheasants and duvets.

She helps you rebalance (and not on a balance beam like me) and unwind your frazzled self.

And before you say, 'I haven't got time and I cant afford it because I've spent all of my money on my dogs (quite right too)'......

You don’t need loads of time.

You need a moment - a Micro Moment.

Beware of Whimzees Dental Dog Treats !!

On Sunday, this chap had a rather scary experience which almost resulted in a trip to the emergency vet.

Late afternoon/early evening he kept trying to do a 💩 to no avail.

As time went on and he kept trying he started screaming in pain and running to me for help.

Eventually, through a lot of pain and crying, he managed a 💩 that was the hardest, heaviest 💩 I have ever seen/felt. He was then instantly sick, a LOT!

Throughout all of this I was speaking with and sending videos to my vet.

To cut a long story short, I think it was due to the Whimzee dental chew I'd given them on Friday. They've had them before and they do always give them hard 💩.but they've never experienced any problems.

My vet said she sees so many dogs with problems from Whimzees, mostly getting stuck in their esophagus or intestines. She said they really scare her and please don't feed them.
So that was the last one we'll be buying, and I advise you not to either.

Fen is a good chewer, he doesn't just swallow big bits, and this was an awful experience.

Please beware of the whimzee!
