Please sign just heartbreaking for decent owners

🐾 Doyle is sadly just one of the many dogs we see every year affected by Section One of the Dangerous Dogs Act. Doyle was in the care of our Lanarkshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre for 58 days before being put to sleep in November 2018.

If Doyle had been any other breed of dog his story would have a happy ending and possibly featured as one of the happy ‘Rehoming Tails’ on our website. Sadly, it wasn’t to be and we were forced by law to put Doyle to sleep once he was determined to be a pit bull type.

The team who cared for Doyle during his time at the centre were, understandably, devastated.

Animal care assistant Mica cared for Doyle during his time at the centre and said “I feel lucky to have met him and I cherish the memories I have of him every day.

“It was absolutely devastating to have cared for Doyle for all that time only to have to put him to sleep. As a Society we never want to put a healthy animal down so it goes against all your instincts to take a perfectly happy, healthy dog who would do really well in a new adoptive home and euthanise them.

“Every time a dog comes in to the centre who is deemed to be a pit bull it’s the same story and it’s so upsetting and distressing for the whole team.”
