This post is going to cause multi-generational heartbreak. Trojan has been here so many years that kids, mothers and granny’s have all ridden him. Girls learned to ride on him, then returned many years later with their children and couldn’t believe it when they returned and their kids were on Trojan.
When he arrived, I spent many hours on him taking out hacks and trying to get him into the routine. Years later, he was the reliable one that you could trust. He knew us and we knew him so well.
He just loved being ridden. Even at his great old age, he still couldn’t contain his excitement at getting his shot at cantering or jumping. Although sitting trot or work without stirrups was always interesting on him!
You can only hope that all horses have a life like he did. Living to a grand old age with a beautiful shiny coat, in great condition (even with no teeth!)and getting endless hugs and pats from all that loved him🐴❤️
