Unfortunately Bonnie and Bear have found themselves available for rehoming again. Their current owners have had a baby and unfortunately Bear is struggling to adjust to the new addition. They are still in their current home at the moment as coming back to the kennels would be unsettling for them. We are hopeful to find them a new suitable home and avoid causing them any extra stress. Please find information from their current owners below about this lovely pair and how they’ve been since they rehomed them. We are looking for a new home for them with no young children. Somewhere quiet with not a lot of comings and goings as that seems to be when they are happiest. They must be rehomed together. If you think you could offer this pair a home please drop as a message telling us a bit about yourself and your lifestyle.
Bonnie:
Bonnie is such a loveable little ball of energy. She wants to play with you and fling herself about given the any opportunity (almost puppy like) which is hilarious because she’s so tiny 🥰 but is also more than willing to fall asleep cuddled right up close to you (or on you preferably). Once trust has been built, she’s able to be walked off the lead - she will only walk safely off lead with me present otherwise she will run back to the house if I’m not there. It took me a while to be able to trust her off the lead but again, this was just a trust thing for her. She’s fine with other dogs after she’s had the odd little bark at them but otherwise will play if the other dog offers it.
When she’s in the garden however, she likes to bark at everyone and every dog walking past. She also does this given the opportunity in the house if she’s looking out the window. If a stranger comes in the house she will briefly bark but tends to warm to them after 5 minutes - and again, once the person has showed they will be gentle with her.
She does shed hair if she isn’t brushed daily. It’s pretty vital her grooming is kept up otherwise the shedding becomes a lot. She’s fine in the shower too.
Overall she’s a hilarious character and very very loveable 💕
Bear:
Bear is a lot more anxious and territorial than Bonnie. He’s pretty protective over Bonnie too. He’s never bitten but has growled a handful of times. This has always been towards men. He takes a lot longer to build trust with and can struggle a lot with men. Some he will take to pretty quickly but others he will not entertain despite them being very gentle and familiar with him.
Once the trust is built, he is the most loving boy 🩵he’s a lot more chilled than Bonnie - he isn’t too fussed about playing, he’s more interested in being stroked and cuddled.
He does have issues with peeing in the house. This tends to be on things that he deems to have strong smells or an unfamiliar smell (the washing basket, trainers, the bin etc).
On a walk he tends to be on the retractable lead. He has been off lead a handful of times but due to him being a lot more anxious and reactive towards other dogs, it’s safer to keep him on the lead. He barks a lot more at other dogs - never goes for them but loves to bark at them. He does the same in the garden as Bonnie when someone walks past.
Bear has long hair and whilst he does shed, it’s significantly less than Bonnie. He is also fine in the shower.
Due to a change in circumstances (having a new baby), Bear has struggled and we’ve found he is peeing on the baby’s toys, bouncer seat etc and he’s started barking a lot more in the house. He’s completely fine with the actual baby, sits beside him and is very gentle with him, but we believe he’s become more protective and is therefore marking on all his stuff and barking at any noise he hears almost in protection mode (this unfortunately is disturbing the baby).
Both Bonnie and Bear love bones/toys to play with and chew on.
They live with two other dogs (springer spaniel and Rottweiler), and get along great with them. Bonnie actually thinks she’s the boss of them all.
They both love being with each other and cannot be split up.
They like to share a bed to sleep in and have lots of blankets around them - Bear does need space to cool off also though as he gets hot a lot more due to the long hair. Bonnie on the other hand will seek out heat.
