☀️ Sunshine & Dogs ☀️
We all love a sunny day but dogs can struggle in the heat much quicker than we do.
At Barklay Park, warmer weather means:
🐾 more shade
🐾 more water stops
🐾 calmer play
🐾 shorter bursts of activity
🐾 plenty of rest breaks
🐾 paddling pools, cooling mats & quiet time
Because hot, over-tired dogs don’t make good decisions and keeping dogs safe will always matter more to us than keeping them busy.
⚠️ Signs your dog may be getting too hot:
• heavy panting
• excessive drooling
• slowing down or seeming lethargic
• bright red gums
• wobbliness or weakness
• vomiting or diarrhoea
• confusion or distress
If your dog seems too hot:
🐾 move them somewhere cool immediately
🐾 offer small amounts of water
🐾 use cool (not freezing) water on paws, tummy & chest
🐾 contact your vet if symptoms are severe or not improving
Cooling mats can make a huge difference at this time of year too especially in beds, crates and the car after walks or daycare. We’ve got some lovely ones in The Dog Shop just now that are ideal for helping dogs properly switch off and cool down comfortably.
And when they get home? Let them rest. They have done enough for a day. A cool floor, a nap and doing absolutely nothing is often exactly what they need after a warm day.
Calm. Quiet. Safe.
