💔The dogs in my care become part of my family and part of my heart.
None more so than this little girl. So when something tragic happens to them it cuts deep. I must admit I feel guilty being so distraught when her family are the ones who have the greatest loss.

Rascal recently moved up north but I still saw her regularly and as Nessas bestie she came to stay with us from time to time. She was adored by us all.

Rascal was tragically hit by a car last week when out on her lunchtime walk with her Mum and didn’t survive.
There are no words.
It’s taken me a while to feel up to writing a fitting tribute and even now I am still weepy.

She really was the sweetest girl. I feel lucky to have known and loved her and my heart breaks for her lovely family 💔

🐾Last walks of 2025 today🐾

It’s been a memorable day (to say the least!) with my first lost dog in 9.5yrs! He spooked and took himself on an adventure! My heart was only just settling when I heard the devastating news that Olmo crossed the rainbow bridge today.

Olmo was a one of a kind boy. A rescue dog who landed on his paws with his new family. I took time to earn his trust and he had so many quirks. I adored him from the first day, loved getting to know him and he will always have a place in my heart.

I don’t know anyone who didn’t have a soft spot for him❤️

I was lucky enough to see him this week and he demanded he join us for one final walk.

It’s a real privilege to be part of your dogs lives and it’s not something I will ever take for granted.

Olmo, I will never forget you lovely boy 💔

🐾A reminder about this terrifying disease!
It’s been a few years since the first cases over here were noted.

I try to always rinse my girls paws after a walk to avoid any chance of them licking and ingesting anything toxic.

Be vigilant 🫣🐾

🎄FESTIVE UPDATE 🎄

Somehow the end of the year and all it brings is rapidly closing in!

As with previous years, I will be doing a collection for dogs less fortunate than ours.
We run this collection along with Julie Dogs.
The dogs in our care are lucky enough to have wonderful families and lovely lives. We do this annual collection to give something to dogs who are less fortunate.

This year we will be collecting for the Dogs Trust in West Calder.

They are happy to accept many things:
- Food - Cans/trays of food are preferred (Chappie is a universal feeder so very appreciated!)
- cans of hot dogs, as they use these for doing training
- Treats (gravy bones, bonios very appreciated!)
- Toys (each dog has their own toy basket in their kennel)
- Collars/leads/harnesses
- Coats/jumpers
- Bowls
- Poo bags
- Beds/blankets
- Towels
- Anything else dog related in good condition!

We will be happy to collect items from 1st Dec onwards.

There is no obligation to participate.
Thank you for your support with this as always.🎄🐾

🐾And a couple dates for your diary:

My last walk of 2025 will be on Thursday 18th December.

Walks will resume on Monday 5th January 2026.

Today is PDWA National Dog Walker Appreciation Day so here's a Shout Out for all the wonderful professional dog walkers out there! 👏👏👏💙🐾

“You are just a dog walker!” – we get told this all the time!!!
In actual fact, we are so much more!

We are trusted guardians who bond, exercise and enrich a dog’s life in all weather!

We enable owners to work or socialise with the knowledge their dog is exercised safely if they themselves have no time, energy or are too poorly to do so themselves.

Not just walks! We provide enrichment and quality time.

We give owners peace of mind their dog’s welfare is paramount and adapt our days to ensure this during inclement weather for example.

We risk assess constantly but if an accident does happen, we are first aid trained to look after dogs in our care.

We keep up to date with PSPO’s, Dog Law etc.

We build relationship with our dogs and know their “normal” so we can recognise changes such as tummy troubles, new lumps, different gait or mood etc., and report them swiftly.

We learn as much as we can about canine communication, seasonal hazards, breed traits and find suitable outlets for each one where we can. Many of us go on to become groomers, pet nutritionists, trainers, behaviourists, pet photographers etc.

We love the dogs in our care. We laugh at their antics; we worry when they are poorly, and we cry when we lose them.

We are so much more than “just a walker” and never doubt that.

So……..
Dog Walkers: tell us who you are and where you are based! (members and non-members welcome)
Owners: if you have dog walker help, flag them here and tell us what you appreciate the most about them!
