Some people may know that a few weeks ago one of my wonderful clients, Helen, passed away after being diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.
I have walked Helens dog Hope every week for over 9 years, and Star joining us on adventures since she was a tiny little pup. In that time Helen was always supportive of me and the business, reminding me to take time off, letting me rant about van issues, traffic and the weather. Everytime I picked up the dogs she always asked me how the kids were doing, enjoying stories of Alex being wild and Orla being sassy.
So when Helen was diagnosed and asked me to help find homes for the girls I agreed. I promised her they wouldn't spend a moment in kennels and would have a home with us for as long as was needed until we found them the perfect place. Hope has a lovely new home with Helen's niece, I'm so pleased for her, she's a brilliant little dog. Having settled in here so well, Star has actually found her new forever home with us. I wish I had been able to tell Helen that her shy wee girl was gonna live out the rest of her days continuing to be spoilt and having loads of fun and adventures, I know she'd have been delighted. I will miss Helen terribly, but I'm honoured that we will get to take care of Star for her.
We are doing a Stand Up To Cancer dog walking challenge in April with Star in memory of Helen.
