Paws for Thought Dog Training Edinburgh Promoting positive dog training in Edinburgh & Midlothian since 2004! I set up Paws For Thought in 2004 to promote positive and modern training techniques.

I educate owners and teach them the skills to communicate and understand their dogs in a relaxed and enjoyable environment. Dogs are brilliant at picking up patterns and remembering what was rewarding for them. I will help you to identify the best rewards for your dog so you will have plenty of ways to influence their behaviour. I also specialise in rescue dogs and work with their owners to teach

them how to safely handle and train their new dog. These dogs are often in need of a little extra time and attention to give them a chance to shine and show their real personality.

🐾 Puppy Class Update 🐾

Thank you so much for the lovely response to my return—July classes are now fully booked!

If you missed out, don’t worry—August spaces are now available, with Saturday morning classes held at North Merchiston Club. These small, friendly groups are perfect for building confidence, calmness, and life skills in a supportive environment.

Classes are suitable for vaccinated puppies under 22 weeks, and places are limited to keep the group calm and focused.

🐾 Puppy Classes Are Back! 🐾

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here!

I started ‘Paws For Thought’ over 25 years ago, and for the past 20 years I’ve also worked with Dogs Trust. First as their Training and Behaviour Adviser in the rehoming centre, helping dogs with big emotions find their feet again.

I later moved into prevention work, and for the last 10 years I’ve led a small team delivering up to 20 classes a week across Edinburgh. During that time, I paused my own classes to focus fully on the role.

Now, as Dogs Trust shifts away from community classes and back into rehoming centre work, I’ve decided it’s time to return to my roots.

I’ve run puppy classes for too long to stop now—and I’m so excited to bring mine back. These small, friendly classes are grounded in experience, kindness, and science-based training. If you or someone you know is looking for puppy support, I’d love to hear from you.
