I’m looking for local hedgehog release sites that meet the points listed below. If you meet them all please pop me a message- I can’t send messages first on her so direct message me if you think you can help! 😊

⭐️hedgehog population already present- you MUST have hogs already coming in and out of your garden!
⭐️no badgers close by
⭐️no busy fast road
⭐️no gardeners using slug pellets
⭐️willing to feed and support released hogs

Please note, I am currently closed to new admissions!!!

I can guarantee this is the cutest thing you’ve seen all day- maybe even ever!🥹 This little duckling was sadly found with his deceased mum next to a busy road💔 there was no sign of any siblings unfortunately. He would’ve only been a couple of days old when he came to us, and he’s doing well so far🥰 Facebook only lets me post one video at a time so I’ll post some more pics/videos of him shortly!

The baby rabbits left us a week ago to spend some time in a soft release aviary before being released🐇🐰

Rabbits are exceptionally hard to rear, as they are so fragile and rehabbers are often faced with sudden death with no obvious reason, especially around the weaning age.

These 3 were some of the lucky ones- they didn’t take too long to wean after arriving at roughly 10-14 days old (see the last pic to see how small they were!)

Young rabbits leave the nest very young- it may seem like they are too small to be out on their own, but once they are 3-4 weeks old they are independent and can survive without mum💛

🦔🦔🦔 these little guys may be cute, but they make a LOT of mess!

This young goose came in alongside another one after being found on a road, suspected to have been hit by a car. They both had some head trauma, sadly the other one was suffering so the decision was made to put him to sleep. This little one however was able to stand, a bit wobbly but it doesn’t appear to have any obvious injuries. We will give them some time on anti inflammatory pain relief and fingers crossed we see some improvement🤞

This isn’t a post I wanted to write but I feel it’s important. I have had a few messages recently blaming me for an animal dying because I didn’t reply quickly enough, or don’t have the capacity take any more at the moment. Some days I can get 15 messages- 15 different animals needing help, which is a lot of people to try and make a plan with whether or not I am able to take them at that time.

I am just one person, working full time as a vet and rehabbing wildlife on the side. Wildlife is not my full time job, I do not have the physical or mental capacity to take every single animal that is reported to me, as it would simply be irresponsible and would mean that I have less time to devote to each individual patient. I have very little spare time as it is, and the wildlife will always come first.

Please be patient and don’t accuse me of being responsible for the death or suffering of an animal. If something is suffering and you can’t find rescue space, please take it to the nearest vets- they have a duty to provide emergency treatment and will not charge you.

Some other local rescues that can be contacted based in the Sheffield/doncaster/chesterfield area:
* Bird rescue and rehabilitation chesterfield
* Beeches woody rescue
* Charlie’s place
* Chirpy’s allies
* Chesterfield hedgehog rescue
* For the love of hedgehogs Rotherham
* Wath hedgehog rescue
* Windy Ridge Bird Rescue

But we are all only human and we are doing our best, many around full time jobs, so please be understanding. Thank you to the majority who are patient and understanding🫶🏻

A huge thank you to the Joan Harris Memorial Fund for funding a new aviary for us💛 It is perfect for the little garden birds- the goldfinches are currently testing it out and they approve! Videos to come shortly☺️

Does anyone have any spare slabs? ☺️

(In)patiently waiting for their food to be topped up this morning… 5 weeks on & the goldfinches are doing well, eating completely independently. They will be moved to an outdoor aviary when the weather picks up a bit and then released soon after🫶🏻
