Suitable hiding places are essential for a happy healthy reptile. Large or small all reptiles and amphibians feel safer with appropriate hiding spots without they can easily end up stressed leading to health problems.

Strategically positioned all around the enclosure; lots of hides and hiding opportunities provide sheltered view points for your reptile, so they can look over their terrain feeling confident they're hidden from sight and 'safe from potential predation'.

Reptiles prefer to be and feel more secure squeezed tightly up against a surface - this is known as positive thigmotactic behaviour, reptiles do really need lots of appropriate, tight spaces to squeeze into and hide should they want.

Using hides/caves not only provides necessary shelter for your reptile but also creates microclimates within their enclosure that are slightly cooler or warmer and more humid. Cool spots are as important as hot spots in order for your reptile to thermoregulate comfortably.

HerpMania hides are smooth on the inside with a rough lumpy exterior which looks natural and also provides a rough surface to climb over also to help relieve that itch whilst sloughing (shedding their old skin). HerpMania hides are made using 100%GRP light weight and robust, because of the isophallic gel coat they're really easy to clean and can be used in both dry and wet (aquariums, ponds etc) settings.

I am always so pleased with how respectful the children are with my animals asking all sorts of very good questions between sharing facts that they've picked up from school and/or previous reptile encounters.
- this is what makes being out there worth every minute! Inspiring and encouraging our next generations to respect and appreciate that we all have a right to exist in this world and learning to share this beautiful world with all it's fascinating creatures as we continue to develop and grow as a world population is crucial for a sustainable future.

- as the new much cooler 😎 space has proven so popular with everyone I shall be out again tomorrow with some more of my scaly friends! 🐍

Wow! Thank you all so much! I really wasn't expecting so many of you lovely people to come over today, you're all absolutely amazing! I set up specifically to take some pictures of the children to advertise HerpMania for future events.

I have chosen this new more appropriate location on the highstreet for the welfare and safety of my animals, this area will enable me to provide the experiences I want to offer people with my animals 🐍

To the little boy that really wanted to have a look at my boa but mum was too scared, I am really sorry I raced off to make sure my python was okay on the steps, if you do come back tomorrow and still want to I will make sure you get to hold one of my amazing animals.
