The Shepard's Angel (Centropyge shepardi) is a peaceful, dwarf species that adapts well to most aquariums. This Angel is generally considered reef safe, so long as a full diet and plenty of rocks for grazing are provided.

We've gone a bit mad on corals this week, and some would say that I've ordered too much...

But since it all fit in the vats, I'd say that I've ordered the perfect amount 😇

Lovely range of softies, LPS (including a big section of Euphyllia frags) and SPS all settled in and ready to go! 😍

We have some super sized Lemon Fin Barbs (Hypsibarbus wetmorei) in stock currently, from upwards of 30cm long! These shoaling Barbs realistically need to be kept in a tropical pond, or an absolutely massive tank to accommodate their lifestyle, but make great active tankmates for larger species of Cichlid or catfish.

Take a look at some of the rare, Central African fish we currently have in stock here at Fair Oak! These fish are wild caught from our supplier in the Congo, but they've all settled in really well! Unfortunately once they're gone they're not likely to be back for a long time as we have few opportunities to restock them. Many of them will need a large tank and are not suitable to house with small fish or invertebrates. Please do get in touch if you would like to learn more about them 😊

We haven't been able to get these for a few years now; Salt & Pepper Corys! (Hoplisoma habrosum) They've always been in demand but, despite our constant attempts, unfortunately we haven't been able to get hold of them for a long time, but that ends now! These beautiful shoaling catfish only get to 3cm, making them ideal for smaller tanks or an alternative to Pygmy Corys.

Unfortunately, we also have to advise that we are currently experiencing issues with our Reverse Osmosis unit, resulting in slowed production of both RO and Salt water. We are hopeful that we will be able to resolve this soon, but it is likely we may run out of water today, so please bear this in mind should you be planning to visit us for some. If you are desperate, our Maidenhead Aquatics Fareham store at Titchfield will be able to provide the water you need, and we apologise for the inconvenience.

We're not neglecting our marine side either, we've had some lovely deliveries in the past week, and we're looking forward to more in the near future!

To tide you over, we're highlighting our absolutely stunning Filament Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus filamentosus). These wrasse are peaceful, reef safe and perform incredible displays, flaring their fins as they swim.

In store today we have these beautiful little predatory marine fish, a Longnose Hawkfish and Marine Betta! They both like to eat shrimps and small fish but do not eat corals, making them semi reef safe!

Longnose Hawkfish (Oxycirrhites typus) grow to about 12cm, and are often seen hiding in rocks and corals waiting for prey to pass by. In the wild they tend to prefer Gorgonians where they perch and then swoop down to catch their food, hence the name!

Marine Bettas (Calloplesiops altivelis) use their enlarged caudal, ventral and dorsal fin to corral prey into the rockwork where the only escape path is right past their mouths! When threatened they will hide face first in a rock and use the striking spot on their back along with their long pelvic fins to mimic a moray eel to intimidate their aggressor!

Good morning! In store today we have a variety of large Oscars with some being fully grown! Only suitable for the largest tanks, housed with other large and hardy fish or on their own, Oscars have lots of personality and are often compared to dogs!
