Meet The Mares 🩷

Name - Lara - Full Criollo

Size - A stocky 14.3hh

Age - 21

Temperament - An absolutely unflappable trust horse. When Danny & I first met 13 years ago I accidentally (& stupidly) rode her straight into a bog in The New Forest. Lara was immediately up to her belly in mud and help was a long way away. I managed to roll off and get to solid ground. I was sure that she would panic and sink herself further but she stood for a second as if wondering what she should do and then calmly managed to move just enough to pull one leg out at a time and get herself out, it really was miraculous. She was completely un bothered and we continued with our ride!

History - Lara was imported as a 2 year old from Uruguay 🇺🇾 and was Danny’s riding horse throughout his teenage years. She’s since taught our children to ride and is now in retirement and breeding beautiful foals for us. She’s mother to Lady, Pedro, Tschieff & Flicka.

Meet The Mares 🩷

Name - Nibbles

Age - 3

Size - 13.3hh at the moment

Temperament - Very intelligent, reactive/sharp, loves to chew on fabric (destroys hay nets 🫣)

History - Nibbles is a full Criollo. Her mother was imported into the UK (in foal) from Germany 🇩🇪 & Nibbles spent a few years turned out with cattle until we purchased her a few months ago 🐄

Future - Nibbles is currently in training with us and we hope she will make a super fun (and fast) riding pony! She has HUGE ears - I’m sure there’s an old wives tale that says that means she can jump?

She’s just come in and is proving extremely sensible indeed. Typical Appaloosa, intelligent and kind.

This is Ghost

He is a beautiful 4 year old Appaloosa x Connemara gelding around 14.2h

Ghost has just arrived here with us and is halter broken - otherwise a complete blank canvas. He’s got a great temperament, he is willing, responsive, trusting and kind

Really would like to unlock this boys potential here but would also consider selling him to someone that wants to produce something themselves as we currently have another three youngsters we’ve just started & only so many hours in the day!

Ghost is going to be a fantastic project for someone - you don’t often come across ponies this size and age that humans haven’t already messed up in one way or another!

Carrots would start with 3 as he is or a 6 in a few months when he’s riding away

4th morning- 35 miles in
Littleton Farm Campsite was a great stop for us last night
We had our own paddock and also use of the showers which were very much appreciated (until now we’ve been using foldable buckets and water troughs 😆)
Two long days riding now until we reach the next farm that has offered to put us up ☺️
Quick stop in Amberley this morning to top up on a few essentials (baby wipes, dog food & snacks)
