Reviews like this are one of the reasons why we do what we do ❤️🐾

Winnie has been coming to us for a few years now and has weekly sessions to help conservatively manage her hip dysplasia. She is a little star ⭐️ She smashes her treadmill work (with the help of cream cheese of course!🧀) and makes us laugh has she rolls over like a turtle on her way out and dries herself 🐢!

Reviews are an excellent way of sharing the work of small businesses, and we are very honoured to do the work we do!

This is the adorable Maple!🍁

Maple came to us for rehabilitation after an arthroscopy on her right elbow in 2024, and has since returned after having the same procedure in her left elbow at Bobbing Hill Vets.

(An arthroscopy is a procedure used to help investigate and treat elbow dysplasia)

Using the underwater treadmill allows Maple to exercise her elbow joints without full weight bearing as 60-65% of a dogs body weight is supported by their front quarters alone when standing. Alleviating some of this weight stress through her elbow joints allows her to utilise her joints without pain and allows her muscles to rebuild around these joints to support her on land. Additionally the warmth of the water will reduce inflammation and so arthritis.

Maple also was advised to lose some weight, and she has done fantastically well, she weighed 36kg when she first came to us and is now 33.25kg! The weight loss will take some strain off of her elbows to help her recover.

Well done Miss Maple! 🧡🍁

Saturday was Borden Lane Vets staff day! 🩺👩‍💻🐾.

Firstly the cheeky Bass who’s mum works busily behind the scenes at Borden Lane vets! Bass comes to us for rehabilitation for his spinal condition, elbow dysplasia and carpal hyperextension. He loves his gravy bone biscuits! Demanding them in the second photo 😂🔊.

Secondly, beautiful Bonita and Kittie! 🐩. Bonita and Kittie’s mum works as a receptionist at Borden Lane ⌨️☎️🖥️. Bonita comes to hydrotherapy for osteoarthritis and hind limb muscle atrophy, and Kittie for muscle maintenance as she grows older 💙 Bonita says *BOOP* and Kittie is asking “where’s my treats?” 🥰.

And on Wednesday we have vet Gemma’s cute trio, Gus, Vera and Margo! Gus comes to hydrotherapy for elbow dysplasia and osteoarthritis management, and Vera and Margo join him so that we can keep an eye on how they are and of course to give them their monthly quota of biscuits!🐾🐾🐾

🌟Fact Friday on a Sunday 🌟

This came up on our memories from 6 years ago, so we thought we would share it again as it is so important for dogs with or without orthopaedic conditions.

We advised Bruno’s owner that he needed his nails cut as they were getting long, so off he went to get Bruno sorted and sent a photo of his nice neat paws🥰

Plus a great photo of Bruno with Buddy and a ramp to get on to the settee to help reduce the force to limbs when getting on and off. 🥰

***Long nails can force the dog's toes to splay out, leading to uneven weight distribution and potentially causing joint and musculoskeletal problems.

***Long hair between the paw pads can cause the dog to slip or lose their footing on slippery surfaces
