Peddy’s Wild Wagger's

Peddy’s Wild Wagger's Welcome to Peddy's Wild Waggers. We have recently started up our dream and we are now proud to offer dog groom, dog training, as well as dog walking services.

Based in Retford and surrounding areas please feel free to contact. Having always wanted to join the Police within the dog unit, I found out that it was one of the hardest things to get into. At 17 and not being disenchanted, I took the advice of getting experience of life and that I did. I might have got lost along the way, made bad choices, and let life take over. After 15 years in the corporate

world at the same company I was made redundant, however as the saying goes when when life gives you lemons..... rather than chasing that elusive promotion, pay rise, recognition, I chose to do something that I love and found out I'm not bad at (perhaps not how the saying goes). Although sometimes circumstances helps you have that reality check, and lets you re-train and learn new skills (including social media) which is why I am now here. Loving every minute of making the dream become a reality and hopefully you join me on my journey.

🐻💛 BEAR’S DIARY - BIRTHDAY UPDATE 💛🐻

Today was a big one for our boy Bear.

Bear turned 2 years old, but he’s spent three-quarters of his life in kennels… just waiting for someone to give him a chance whilst missing out on so much.

And somehow, that someone ended up being us.

When Bear first came to Peddy’s Wild Waggers, he didn’t know how to be a dog.
No social life.
No confidence.
No idea what “fun” felt like.
Just survival mode.

But today, on his birthday of all days, he experienced some massive firsts.

🐾 His first attempt at agility — stepping onto the ramp
🐾 His first time choosing fun over fear — checking in, taking food, staying close.
🐾 His first birthday celebration with real friends and family — not bars and not concrete
🐾 And his first moment posing proudly in front of a birthday banner, looking like a dog who finally believes he’s worth celebrating.

Watching him climb that equipment — slowly, nervously, but willingly — genuinely hit us.
Because he wasn’t just climbing a ramp…
He was climbing out of the life he’s known so far.

And knowing he trusts us enough to take those steps means everything.

Bear isn’t just settling in — he’s growing, learning, healing.
And we’re incredibly proud to be the one’s guiding him through his second chance.

Happy 2nd Birthday, Bear. 💛

✨ Thank You From Peddy’s Wild Waggers ✨

A huge thank you to all the lovely dogs (and their owners!) who came in this week taking up the offer of a groom with me. 🐶✂️

Your support means the world as I continue building my experience and confidence while working towards my grooming qualification. Every dog that walks through our doors helps me grow, refine my skills, and become the groomer your pups deserve.

We had:
🌟 Wiggly bottoms
🌟 Spa-day snoozers
🌟 A few cheeky divas (mentioning no names)
🌟 And plenty of happy, shiny coats leaving the pod smelling great!

Thank you for trusting me with your dogs, being patient, and supporting our little family business as we expand. 🤍

Steph’s expertise, my dog-training background, and our calm home-from-home environment all come together to make these sessions such a positive experience — and we truly appreciate every booking.

Here’s to more wagging tails next week! 🐾✨

Rob’s opening up some extra appointments while he finishes the last part of his training, and he’s offering them at a discounted rate.

Same calm setup as always – time for a wander in the garden before and after, gentle handling, quality products, and Steph close by if he needs a second pair of eyes.

If your dog’s coat could do with a tidy before the weekend, pop us a message and we’ll get you booked in.

🐾 “The Wild Waggers Way” — Because How We Work Matters

At Peddy’s Wild Waggers, we don’t just say we care — we prove it every single day.
Whether it’s:
✂️ A nervous first-time groomer in Steph’s pod learning that grooming can be calm, gentle, and fear-free…
🚶‍♂️ A reactive dog gaining confidence on our structured walks…
🎓 Or a misunderstood pup learning that training doesn’t need force, only trust…

Everything we do is built on ethics, patience, and understanding.
We don’t believe in quick fixes or cutting corners — because dogs deserve more than that.

Here’s what makes us different 👇
🐾 Welfare first, always.
🐾 Positive, reward-based methods rooted in behaviour science tailored to your pup.
🐾 Calm, compassionate handling in every service — grooming, walking, and training.
🐾 Qualified, insured, and constantly learning to find the best techniques as not every dog is the same nor should we treat them that way
🐾 Family-run, one stop shop, and proud to put our name to everything we do.
🐾 This isn’t just a job, it’s our passion and something we take pride in the service we provide.

We’re not here to compete — we’re here to raise the standard.

Some dogs don’t start training with sit, stay, or heel.
They start with something much simpler — learning that food can come from safe hands.

🐻 For Bear, every meal is a mini confidence session.
We’re hand-feeding him in calm, predictable ways — sometimes indoors, sometimes outside, even in the car park — so he learns that eating is safe no matter where he is.

No commands. No expectations. Just calm, steady progress and a chance to build trust where fear used to live.

When the world has been scary, confidence starts one mouthful at a time. 💛

🐻 Bear Diaries: Wrapped in Love 🧶
When you’ve had a tough start in life, it’s the little things that mean the most.
With the colder weather on its way and Bear still working toward his ideal weight, Granny Murph knitted him a jumper to keep him snug through winter.
We think she’s outdone herself — what do you think, should she make a few more? 💛

🐻 Bear Diaries: Finding His Feet

Back by demand………

With Bear, it’s never been a straight road — but every step is part of his journey.

We’ve had ups and downs. Accidents were happening almost daily… until now. He’s just passed 30 days accident-free 🎉

We tried all sorts — freedom from the crate, new routines — but freedom quickly turned into shredded cushions and messes all over 🙈.
Taking a step back, I realised what I always tell others: the crate has to be the right size.
Because Bear spent his life in kennels, his original crate was too big. He would pace and spin inside, feeding his anxiety instead of calming it. Now, in the right-sized crate, he settles. He’s finally learning peace.

The changes are showing everywhere:
🧡 His place training has gone from strength to strength, even outdoors with distractions.
🧡 His impulse control is improving — he now sits and waits calmly for his meals.
🧡 He’s gaining weight and building muscle — his body finally matches his spirit.
🧡 He now sits on command, takes food in public, and is discovering joy instead of fear on walks.
🧡 He even had his longest walk yet with Bubba, off lead in the sea, and his recall was perfect.
🧡 He’s tried agility and loved the jumps, he now leaps into the car (and even taught Stan, age 9, how to do it too!).
🧡 He missed the wedding ceremony, but he still dressed up for photos in the flat — part of the family, always.

Bear still has his moments. When he’s unsure, his first instinct is still to flee, and it takes time to bring him back. But each day he learns a little more trust, a little more joy.

This is what progress looks like. Not perfect. Not linear. But real, messy, muscle-building, recall-smashing, cushion-stealing progress.

Because Bear isn’t just learning to be trained — he’s learning to truly live. 🐾

✨ What’s better than one Golden Retriever?
Two? 🐕🐕
Nope… THREE! 🐕🐕🐕

Our Big Dog Wednesday Group Play Date is in full swing – and it doesn’t get much better than a retriever reunion.
Big paws, big hearts, and even bigger zoomies. 💛

🐾 Because life really is golden when it’s shared with friends.

🐻 Bear Diaries: The Road to Becoming 🐾

Some dogs arrive in your life already knowing how to be part of a family.
Bear didn’t.
He arrived shut down, scared of the world, unsure of his place in it.

But slowly — so slowly — he’s beginning to believe that maybe this is where he’s meant to be.

🧡 This week, Bear hit the 1kg weight gain mark. That might sound small, but for him, it’s everything. It means he’s eating. Trusting. Thriving.
🧡 So the accident counter for indoors has been reset to zero - a little setback — and part of some separation anxiety which is only natural and to be expected - so something we will be working more on.
🧡 There’s been no new destruction either. Just quiet moments. Calm choices. Glimpses of a dog who no longer feels the need to lash out take out his frustrations.
🧡 He’s started place training, and watching him settle — truly settle — is a bigger win than any command we could teach.
🧡 And for the first time in his life… he swam in the sea.
Not because we asked him to.
Because he wanted to. 🌊 The problem was getting him to stop swimming.

But with every breakthrough comes new challenges.

Spending time with our own dogs has given him comfort — but also opened the door to new behaviours we’ll now need to gently guide.
And this week, Bear discovered his voice — a sound he’s never really used before. He’s barking now… exploring how to be heard. It’s messy. It’s noisy. But it’s progress.

Because progress doesn’t always look polished. Sometimes it looks like a dog barking at shadows, testing boundaries, or flopping on a mat and choosing to stay.

Bear is becoming.
Not perfect. Not fixed.
Just becoming.

And we’ll keep walking beside him — one paw at a time. 🐾
