Have you stepped into the new year with a goal you’d love to achieve with your dog but don’t know where to start or even if anyone can help?
From the simple everyday struggles to bigger behaviour goals, you don’t have to figure it out alone.

🐾 Pulling on the lead “because they’re just excited”
🐾 Not coming back when called — “they’re stubborn”
🐾 Jumping up at visitors — “they’re just being friendly”
🐾 Barking at dogs, people, or noises — “that’s just what dogs do”
🐾 Stealing food or items around the house
🐾 Struggling to settle or relax indoors
🐾 Reactivity on walks — “they don’t like other dogs”
🐾 Ignoring cues when outside but listening perfectly at home
🐾 Being unable to be left alone, even for short periods
🐾 Over-excitement at the door, in the car, or before walks

If you’ve ever thought “that’s just how my dog is chances are, it’s something we can help with.

We’re here to support you and your dog every step of the way 🐾💚

I’m honestly shocked by some of the “advice” reactive dog owners are being given.
Telling someone to secure fields for the rest of their life instead of investing in training because their dog “can’t be helped”.
Advising owners to only go out at ridiculous times of day.
Even being told not to walk their dog at all, with the justification that “dogs haven’t died from not being walked”.
That isn’t kindness.
That isn’t welfare.
That isn’t training.
That is condemning a dog to a lifetime of isolation because it’s easier than actually helping them.
Reactive dogs are not broken.
They are not hopeless.
They are communicating fear, frustration, confusion, or stress.
Management has a place absolutely.
But management without rehabilitation is just containment.
Dogs need:
• Appropriate physical outlets
• Mental enrichment
• Skill building
• Confidence
• Guidance from owners who are supported, not scared into giving up
Helping a reactive dog doesn’t mean flooding, punishment, or force but it also doesn’t mean hiding them away forever and calling it humane.
We owe dogs better than a life spent avoiding the world.

If your “solution” is isolation instead of education, the problem isn’t the dog.

If you’ve been advised to avoid the world forever, stop walking your dog, or accept that nothing can change please know that this is not your only option.

If you contact me and I can’t help your dog, you won’t be charged.

What you will get is an honest assessment and clear guidance.
Reactive dogs deserve understanding, structure, and support not a lifetime of avoidance. 💚🐾

Let’s talk E-collars.

I use E-collars on my own dogs and I value them as a training tool when they are used correctly, fairly, and ethically. Like many tools in dog training, the problem isn’t the tool itself – it’s how it’s used.
E-collars have gained a lot of negative media attention, and honestly, some of that criticism is understandable. They can be misused. Poor timing, high levels, lack of education, or using them as punishment rather than communication is where things go wrong. And when that happens, dogs lose out.

Used properly, an E-collar is not about pain or punishment. At low working levels, it’s simply a form of clear, consistent communication, especially valuable for:
🐾Off-lead reliability
🐾Recall around high distractions
🐾Distance work
🐾Dogs where safety is critical
For many dogs, the sensation is comparable to a tap on the shoulder not a shock.
The goal should always be clarity, confidence, and freedom, not compliance through fear.
E-collars are not for everyone, and they are not a shortcut. They require education, skill, and a solid foundation of training.
They should never replace relationship building, reward based learning, or good handling.
So my stance is this:
👉 E-collars are neither good nor bad the hands using them matter.
👉 Education, ethics, and the dog’s welfare must always come first.

Used responsibly, they can be an incredibly effective tool. Used irresponsibly, they can absolutely cause harm. And that’s where the real conversation should be.

Happy to discuss, educate, and have respectful conversations around this topic

If it is something you may be thinking about using with your dog please do get in touch 🐾💚

🐾Using a Lead Indoors an underestimated training tool 🐾

In my opinion, using a lead inside the home is one of the most underrated tools in dog training.
Keeping a lightweight lead attached can help with so many behaviours, including:
Teaching your dog how to settle and switch off
Preventing unwanted behaviours before they start (jumping up, chasing, pacing)

Helping dogs learn impulse control
Supporting calm behaviour around visitors
Guiding dogs without grabbing collars or repeating commands!

Creating clarity and consistency, especially for young or excitable dogs

The lead isn’t about restriction or punishment t’s about calm guidance and clear communication.

When used correctly, it helps dogs learn what to do rather than constantly being told what not to do.

If you’re struggling with settling, over arousal, or general manners at home, this simple tool can make a huge difference. Get in touch if you’d like help 🐾💚

Let’s talk dog food & behaviour 🥩🥦
What your dog eats doesn’t just affect their body it can have a huge impact on their behaviour too.
Low quality foods are often packed with fillers, artificial colours, preservatives, and excess carbohydrates. These can lead to:
❌ Hyperactivity
❌ Poor focus and impulse control
❌ Digestive discomfort (which often shows up as irritability)
❌ Fluctuating energy levels and restlessness

On the other hand, high quality, balanced nutrition supports:
✅ Steadier energy throughout the day
✅ Better concentration and trainability
✅ Improved gut health (closely linked to mood and stress)
✅ Calmer, more settled behaviour

Think of it this way if you lived on junk food, how would you feel? 🤯
Dogs are no different.
Food isn’t a magic fix, but when combined with clear training, structure, and enrichment, it can make a noticeable difference to your dog’s behaviour and wellbeing.
If your dog struggles with over excitement, poor focus, or sudden behaviour changes, it might be worth looking in the food bowl first 👀🐾

👉 Training starts with meeting your dog’s basic needs and nutrition is a big one.

If i can help you with this please get in touch👌💚🐾

Training isn’t about control it’s about clear communication!

Many behaviour issues come from dogs not fully understanding what’s expected of them, rather than being “stubborn” or “naughty.” When we break training down into small, achievable steps and reward the behaviours we want to see more of, dogs learn faster and feel more confident.

When we focus on understanding behaviour such as why a dog pulls on the lead, reacts to other dogs, or struggles to settle we can train more effectively and more fairly. With clear guidance, consistency, and appropriate corrections we can help dogs understand boundaries, creating reliable behaviour and calm decision so life with your dog is enjoyable, not stressful. 🐾💚

Rescue dog Wolfie — reactive and nervous.
This was our first session and initial assessment.
The aim at this stage is to gather information: identifying triggers, observing responses, assessing current coping strategies, and understanding how Wolfie interacts with his environment.

This process also allows us to help the owners clearly understand what Wolfie is wanting and needing in different situations, so everyone is working from the same information. With that understanding in place, realistic expectations can be set and a structured training plan created to support Wolfie in reaching the owners’ goals.

No assumptions.
No rushing the process.
Assessment and understanding come first.
