Puppy School training classes are of the highest standard and professional tutors make classes stimulating and fun for owners and puppies. At our puppy training classes, only kind, effective techniques are used and puppies are 'educated' to have good manners, be friendly with adults, children and other dogs, and to respond to essential commands. Puppy School classes are designed for vaccinated pup

pies aged 20 weeks or less. Class numbers are restricted to 8 puppies, ensuring that 1-1 attention is provided to each owner and so as not to overwhelm the puppies and to be able to give as much individual attention as possible. For this reason we ask people to book in advance, in order for you to be guaranteed a place. We warmly welcome Children aged 4 and up to come to classes and to actively assist in the training of the family dog. Topics covered in class are as follows; 'Come' when called, ‘sit, ‘down’, ‘stand’, walk on a loose lead, ‘wait’, ‘off’, essential socialisation, how to greet humans appropriately, getting used to being handled, examined, hugged, lifted and grabbed by owners and strangers as well as food, chew and toy possession manners. Handouts are given at the end of each class to help with training at home and on completion of the course you will receive a rosette and certificate!

If you're currently a client of ours, you will understand this well, but contrary to popular belief, puppy socialisation is not simply about letting your puppy play with other puppies. This can actually do more harm than good...

At the start of this video, you can see two puppies and, on first glance, it may look like they're both having a good time, but when you look closely you can see the black puppy grabbing the yellow puppy round the neck and pushing it around. They are not taking turns in play, and the yellow puppy isn't getting a choice about the encounter.

If a puppy regularly experiences this or the experience is very unpleasant, they could learn to become defensive around others dogs. This is why in 2023 we introduced "Puppy Greetings" into our Puppy School syllabus, a much more structured, beneficial approach to socialising puppies, encouraging short, calm interactions.

Play is often better managed with an older dog who can help teach the puppy to take pauses and keep play at a nicer level.

📣Exciting FREE Puppy/ Young Dog training opportunity with Puppy School📣

⭐FREE training for puppy / young dog between 12 weeks - 9 months of age. Is your puppy ready to start training? or does your dog/ young puppy need a refresher on some already taught training skills?

⭐Can you travel to Churchdown, Gloucester?

⭐Are you free on either Mon 1st or Wed 3rd December (for pups 20 weeks or under) or Tues 2nd December (for Young dogs older than 5 months)?

If so, we would like to invite you to participate in a FREE puppy/dog training session which will be run by Puppy School trainee tutors.

The aim is to provide our trainee tutors with new puppies to work with to help them build up their skillsets as part of their Puppy School practical course. Our trainees will practice different exercises from the Puppy School syllabus and have a go at teaching and coaching you too.
