I thought it would be helpful to post a quick update before our page disappears from facebook.
We have really enjoyed breeding and caring for Axolotls but due to time constraints we took the decision last year to stop breeding and are no longer operating - we’ve paused salt manufacturing for the time being as our local Post Office suddenly closed and there have been too many issues chasing suppliers to make it work in a timely manner.
Thanks for all your custom

The cost of living crisis in this country is impacting on pet owners. Owning an exotic pet such as an Axolotl means extra water bills, food for your babies, medical care etc .
Costs for us are rising but as we know how much many of you are struggling we are holding off on price rises for now.

Our Holtfreters salt is our best seller and we’d love you to try it to help keep your Axis happy and healthy.

So for the rest of January if you order directly from us we will discount the larger amounts:

£20.00 for 500g.
£30.00 for 1kg.

Larger amounts are available at a discount too - message for details.

Our gorgeous Parsley is off to pastures new. He lost his partner during the winter and as spring approaches he was showing his spring colours and calling for love.
Another breeder down south approached us and we’ve collaborated to bring Parsley together with his two ladies.
Let hope for the patter of little froggy feet soon!

Darlington people - before any water changes test your tap water if you live in the DL1 area that is currently having an issue. The information to boil your water indicates there’s something astray that could be harmful. If you can avoid water changes for now.

Cycling is an essential part of owning an Axolotl. It’s a continuous process throughout the lifespan of your pet. Before ownership you begin the process, preparing the filter and environment.

We have a full guide to the nitrogen cycle, what it is and why it’s important in our Durham Axolotls UK group.

Here’s a couple of images also to assist.

Once your aquarium is ready and your Axi moves in it’s important to continue the water tests to check your levels are stable and safe.

It may seem to be daunting at first but we are always here to advise and assist.

It seems there are still a lot of unidentified Tigers out there.

A direct comparison below which shows how difficult it can be to tell the difference.

One is a Tiger Salamander, the other a Wild Type Axolotl.

Which is which!

Hiya folks.
It seems there have been a few Tiger Salamander youngsters sold recently as Axolotls (not by us) so we thought we’d provide a few photos to help with identification.

It’s pretty difficult to tell the difference when the Tiger is in the un morphed stage but will become obvious when morphing begins. The Gill stalks recede them disappear the dorsal fin recedes and the legs thicken and grow stronger. You’ll see the head poking out the water too.

If you accidentally purchase one and need help, advice etc please feel free to message us.
