BLUETONGUE UPDATE
From today the Bluetongue virus (BTV-3) restricted zone will cover ALL OF ENGLAND, which will make movement rules simpler and fairer for everyone.
No more pre-movement testing or licences are needed to move cattle, sheep, goats, deer, llamas, alpacas - or any other ruminants - within England. This is beacuse the disease is now so wide spread targeted movement controls are no longer effective and there are safe effective vaccines available. This move aligns England with the EU.
DEFRA and the UK chief vet recommend all livestock keepers chat with their vet about BTV- 3 protection.
Bluetongue remains a notifiable disease. If you see suspected signs report it straight away to APHA on 03000200301.
