What to expect
When applying for rats from me there is one important fact to consider.
What is it you want from your pet rats? If you're wanting rats that will cuddle and want to be with you 24/7 then my rats probably aren't for you. I work really hard with kittens to ensure that they are well handled, friendly and confident however I also make it very clear to prospective owners that my rats aren't cuddly and they tend to be very independent. They are chaotic whirlwinds that are full of mischief but also full of love.
When you first take your kittens home its important that you don't expect too much from them too soon. I think the internet has given rise to people feeling like they have to put kittens in cages that are packed to the rafters with stuff, whilst this may be fun it may also enable kittens to hide from new owners and hinder the bonding process and cause kittens to become nervous of new owners, they need a space that whilst being fun doesn't have any small enclosed spaces that allow them to hide. Owners also need to be confident when picking them up and interacting with them.
Young kittens are great, they're playful, pingy and just lovely to be around but as they grow up they tend to become less playful. its not uncommon for rats to spend large parts of the day sleeping so if you're expecting your rats to be available when you want them to be you may be disappointed.
Whilst I do my very very best to make sure my rats are ready to go out into the world and join new families sometimes it just doesn't work out, its not the new owners fault, my fault and certainly not the rats fault and in those instances I will always take my rats back.
