Hi everyone 👋 Im new to the rehoming pack here at Stray Aid so I thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Barley and I'm a 1 year old bull lurcher cross 🐶

I might be a big lad, but I’m really just a gentle soul with a huge heart ❤️

I’m still quite young and learning about the world around me. New places and experiences can feel a little overwhelming at first—but once I know I’m safe, I settle in nicely. A bit of reassurance goes a long way with me, and I’ll soon show you my softer, playful side 🥰

I’m very affectionate and always happy to see you—my tail gives me away every time! I love spending time with people and enjoy a fuss and of course, playing with squeaky toys… they’re my absolute favourite! 🧸

I could possibly live with another friendly dog and older children (13+) who understand I might need a little time to find my feet.

If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who’ll be by your side —with a few squeaky toy breaks along the way—I’d love to meet you.

Stray Aid is running short on bedding & towels for the dogs and we need your help. If anyone has any spare bedding they can donate it would be gratefully received. I will list below what we can and cannot use for the dogs 🐕🐕

We can accept:
✅ Medium-large towels
✅ Sheets
✅ Quilt covers
✅ Blankets

We are unable to accept:
❌ Quilts
❌ Cushions
❌ Pillows
❌ Pillow cases
❌️ Hand towels
❌️ Carpets

We are open every day between 10am-4pm for dropping off donations. You can find us at Stray Aid Dogs & Cats Home, Coxhoe, County Durham, DH6 4EL

A few days ago I introduced myself with some lovely photos showing just how pretty I am but unfortunately I didnt recieve any interest 😔 So with the help from my friends at Stray Aid I thought I would show you just how playful, loving and happy I am with a lovely new video!!

A bit about me...My name is Noodle. I’m an 8-month-old whippet cross with a big heart and big energy! I absolutely love to play and run around, and I’m always on the lookout for new squeaky toys to keep me entertained (they’re my favourite!) 😁 I can get pretty excited, but once I’ve had a good play session, I love nothing more than settling down for cuddles and a nap 😴

I’m a huge fan of long walks—there’s so much to explore out there, and I’ve got lots of energy to burn! I’ll need a bit of help with walking nicely on the lead, though, as I can get a little too excited sometimes. So, if you’re looking for a dog who will keep you active and be up for lots of adventures, I might just be the one!🤞

I could live with other dogs who share my fun-loving spirit, and older children who can keep up with my bouncy energy. I’ll just need a little training to help me settle in, but I’m smart and I love to learn! 🐶

If you’ve got the time, energy, and love to help me channel all my enthusiasm into good behaviour, I’d be so happy to be your best friend! 🥰🐾

Hi everyone. My name is Rusty. Im a 5 year old lurcher in need of a home! Ive been at Stray Aid for quite some time now and ive seen lots of dogs come and go off to their new home but unfortunately im still looking 😔

A little about me...I’m one of the happiest dogs you’ll ever meet – if I’m with you, I’m smiling! 😁 Whether I’m running around the enclosure, playing with my favourite teddies, or heading out for a walk, I’m always full of enthusiasm and love 🧡

I get along wonderfully with everyone I meet and I’m a pleasure to walk and always excited for an adventure 🐾🚶‍♂️🌳I could potentially live with other friendly dogs and older children (13+) who can keep up with my cheerful energy.

But most of all, my absolute favourite thing in the world to do is giving you a cuddle 🥰 I may be large but I still love to climb onto your lap and snuggle in.

For those of you wondering about Zoe's introduction - it went really well! The new owner is a very experienced fosterer and adopter of "special" dogs. Zoe fitted into her fur family straight away. Go Zoe, be happy! 🐶 🥳🐾💞

Some dogs are just so special that their stories need to be told. When we heard of a little Shih Tzu, found badly matted under a hedge with horrific injuries, our hearts broke. This little girl appeared to have been savaged by another dog, and was in a desperately bad way. She was rushed to an emergency vets, where they struggled to save her life. After a few days of expert care, she was eating, and stable enough to be moved, with a warning that the damage to her back left leg was so severe that the muscle and skin could still die off. She was taken to the Durham pound's vulnerable dog unit, where she was given the best possible treatment. As you know, Stray Aid accepts every dog we possibly can from the pound, and this little girl deserved the best. Sadly the muscle on her leg turned black and died off, and there was no alternative but for our vets to amputate. The photos from before are too graphic to show, but I think you'll agree, she's a happy little girl now! Now named Zoe, we are delighted to announce that she has a viewing arranged for tomorrow! We hope it goes well and she heads off to her forever home soon.
