Look at these faces! This is Bonnie the St Bernard and Poppy the Border Collie. Both beautiful girls were in for their spay procedures today. They did very well and were the sweetest patients.

Spaying your female dog has many important benefits including:
- Preventing unwanted litters.
- Eliminating the risk of life-threatening uterine infections (pyometra).
- Reduce the risk of mammary cancer when spayed early.
- Preventing season related behaviours such as bleeding and attention from male dogs.

With the cold weather many people use antifreeze on their windscreens and your cat could come into contact with itā€¦

Straight after ingestion and up to 12 hours after, these are some symptoms that your cat could show:

ā€¢ drooling saliva,
ā€¢ looking depressed
ā€¢ vomiting
ā€¢ unwilling to eat
ā€¢ appearing 'wobbly' or uncoordinated
ā€¢ thirst

If they donā€™t receive urgent medical attention within the first 12 hours, your cat could develop worsening symptoms ā€“ their kidneys can get damaged and this could be fatal.

Because antifreeze poisoning affects cats quickly, itā€™s important to take them to the vet IMMEDIATELY! If you see any on their paws then insure this is cleaned off to ensure further ingestion does not occur.

Letā€™s kick off with a picture of 14 year old Albie who came in this week for a dental to have some teeth out and a clean. He was very brave and was eating quickly afterwards, whilst lapping up lots of attention from the team. His owner reports he is doing well at home!
