Unfortunately, all grooming appointments are postponed

My grooming salon is currently reaching temperatures that are simply too high to safely groom dogs. As there is no air conditioning, I have made the decision to temporarily close until the weather cools.

This hasn't been an easy decision, particularly as being self-employed it means I've gone without income, but the welfare of the dogs in my care has to come first. I also have a responsibility to work safely myself.

Rather than risk dogs becoming overheated or stressed during grooming, I feel it is far more responsible to postpone appointments until conditions are safe again.

As soon as temperatures return to a safe level, I'll be in touch to rearrange your appointment as a priority

I'd much rather disappoint you for a short while than compromise your dog's welfare. Thank you for your understanding.

Price update

From 1st February 2026, grooming prices will be updated.

This adjustment reflects rising business costs and allows me to continue providing the high standard of individual, one-to-one care, professional equipment, and time that each dog receives.

I haven’t increased prices since moving to current premises in January 2023, and this update ensures the service remains sustainable without compromising quality.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support — it is genuinely appreciated.

Continuing professional development is an important part of my work.

I’ve recently completed further training in Essential Dog Skin and Coat Care, strengthening my knowledge around coat condition, skin health, and long-term coat management.

This forms part of my ongoing focus on coat-led grooming and specialist care.

Further specialist study is ongoing

About

Canine Coat Specialist health, breed integrity, and skilled handling — particularly for dogs whose coats require experience rather than shortcuts.

With over 20 years of hands-on experience working with giant breeds, double coats, and handstripped coats, my approach is shaped by long-term coat management rather than short-term cosmetic results. I have shown dogs for over two decades, including regular Crufts preparation, and every dog I groom is handled using the same principles applied to show-standard presentation — whether they are shown or not.

I work one-to-one, without crates or dogs waiting, allowing each dog the time and environment they need. Grooming decisions are made with the future condition of the coat in mind, not just how it looks on the day.

I am currently undertaking advanced skin and coat training to further support my work as a Coat Specialist. This formal study underpins what has always been at the heart of my work: understanding how coat, skin, grooming history, and management choices interact over time.

Canine Coat Specialist is not designed to suit every dog or every owner. It is for those who value correct coat care, thoughtful handling, and experience-led grooming — particularly for larger breeds, complex coats, and dogs where coat quality truly matters.

Announcement

Over time, my work has naturally moved towards specialist coat and breed-focused grooming, particularly for double coats, handstripping, giant breeds, and long-term coat management.

To better reflect this direction, Plush Pawz will now be known as Canine Coat Specialist.

The care, approach, and values remain the same — the name simply reflects the work more accurately.
