Every cat is unique, and not all cats respond to new environments in the same way. While some settle into boarding life quickly, others may feel nervous, overwhelmed, unsure, or need much more time and patience to feel safe.
When cats are stressed or anxious, their way of communicating can sometimes look like hissing, hiding, scratching, swiping, or even biting. These behaviours aren’t about being “naughty” or “bad” cats — they’re often signs that a cat is frightened, uncomfortable, overstimulated, or struggling to cope with unfamiliar surroundings.
At North Croft Cattery, we understand that some cats need extra care, space, and understanding. We never judge difficult behaviour, and we have experience caring for nervous, shy, unsettled, and wonderfully “spicy” personalities 🐾
We believe in working with each cat as an individual. We take time to read body language, respect boundaries, and provide calm, compassionate handling to help every guest feel as secure and comfortable as possible during their stay.
We also truly appreciate honest communication from owners about their cat’s personality, routines, preferences, and handling needs before boarding. The more we know, the better we can tailor our care and create the best possible experience for both your cat and our team.
If you’ve ever worried that your cat may be “too difficult” for boarding, please don’t hesitate to talk to us. From confident explorers to shy, sensitive souls, every cat deserves patience, kindness, and understanding ❤️
Thank you for trusting us with your feline family members — we adore them all 🐱💛
