15 year old George had his massage this week. He is such a wiggle bum to start with, partly because he initially finds even light touch over stimulating and in some areas, tender. But with light, slow effleurage (stroking with purpose) he does settle and relax and clearly appreciates the rest of his massage, releasing the compensation tension he holds from carrying himself differently to relieve pressure and pain in his arthritic joints.

Baby boy Beau (cos he’s just a big baby really) had his monthly massage today. He holds his compensation tension in his neck and shoulders due his hind leg arthritis and old tendon injury. He was definitely ready for his massage today.

He’s so funny though. He took a little break half way through and when he returned he decided the best place to sit was on my knee 😂

22° outside. 47° inside the car. 🥵

Unlike humans, dogs can’t sweat through their skin, and they can overheat incredibly quickly so NEVER leave dogs in a hot car, even for a few minutes.

RSPCA have an excellent guide on what to do if you find a dog in a hot car: https://www.rspca.org.uk/adviceandwelfare/pets/dogs/health/dogsinhotcars

Important notice ahead of a scorcher week 🌞

Please walk your dogs in the cooler weather we experience on early mornings and late nights. Dogs should be in a cool, temperature controlled area, and physical exercise should be avoided ❌

Consider using alternatives like enrichment, puzzle feeders, and long lasting chews to help keep your dogs busy indoors. If you have any questions about how to make and use exercise alternatives at home, please reach out to us! Our team are happy to give tips and tricks over the phone or email 💙

Bless Sven. He certainly knew he needed a massage today. He’s had a soft tissue injury recently (seen by a vet) and has been compensating and holding all the tension in his trapezius and lumbar region. We used a range of massage techniques and Photizo red light therapy to ease that tension and return his muscles to full function.

His owner sent me this text a few hours later. Massage isn’t just a pamper, it’s holistic health which helps dogs move better and relieves pain. If you want to know more PM me.

☀️🐾 Hot Weather Reminder 🐾☀️

Please take extra care when using the dog fields during warmer weather 🌡️

Dogs can overheat very quickly, especially when they’re running around having fun, so we’d recommend:

💧 Bringing plenty of fresh water
🐶 Taking regular breaks in the shade
🌳 Avoiding the hottest parts of the day where possible
🐾 Watching for signs of overheating such as excessive panting, slowing down or lethargy
🚗 Never leaving dogs in the car before or after your session

Some dogs don’t always know when to stop, so it’s important we help keep them safe while they enjoy the fields 💛

And as always, please remember to pick up after your dogs and leave the field tidy for the next visitor 😊

Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine! ☀️

I’m in Beverley today and I honestly cannot believe how many people are out with their dogs. Folks, if you love your dog please leave it at home in the cool. A dog never died from missing a walk but they do die from heat stroke 🥵 🐕

Today is lovely weather, but…

…it’s very hot for all dogs, but puppies, older dogs, overweight dogs and brachycephalic (short nosed dogs) are especially susceptible to heat exhaustion, heat stress and heat stroke. For this reason on hot days I may refuse to massage dogs who come under this category (unless in a cool, air conditioned home). A dog which is hot and stressed with over heating is a contraindication to massage.

I always put your dogs’ wellbeing first and foremost. This is more than a job to me, it’s ensuring your dog is the healthiest and happiest they can be with or without massage.

Love to you and all your dogs 🐶 🐾 💜.
Enjoy, but stay safe in the heat and sunshine ☀️

Clover had her second massage today. She is honestly such a sweetheart and I will be seeing her again in about 10 weeks.
