Duncan went home yesterday 🏡He was a whopper! Even Dave struggled to carry him.

His new owner said she is so happy with him and he enjoyed porridge and banana when he got home.

They have been an amazing first litter for us now their mum Katie deserves some well earned rest 🐷

Just had Annie at the vets 😭

She showed up lame this morning. We thought her mum must have stepped on her, as she wasn't putting any weight on her right back leg.
However she had a high temperature of 42 degrees c.
Vet said she has an infection in her knee and is likely due from a lack of mums colostrum when she was born.
So we were sent home with some antibiotics and anti inflammatories . Hopefully we will see some improvement over the next couple of days 🤞

Of course she fell asleep at the vets. This little piggy just loves sleeping on people 🐽🩷

Laura and piglet update- sorry it's taken me so long.

I meant to keep everyone up-to-date with our journey. But it all really didn't go to plan and I completely underestimated how premature the piglets were.

We have had a really hard two days,with so much heartbreak. And we have been juggling work,school sports days,driving round to different stores and vets to try and get piglet colostrum and boosters all while trying to save the piglets that unfortunately weren't ready to be born yet and I'm so grateful to my husband,father in law , friends and vets . As we have all worked as a team to get through the last couple of days.

I've cried whilst cradling piglets that we have fought so hard to save and felt guilty for the mum and piglets that our efforts couldnt help all of them. But it reminds us that this is what's involved with raising animals. It doesn't always go to plan. But as long as we try our best and do what's best for the animals that's what matters.

Things are looking up though. I'm sure you will all appreciate the cuteness in the video and pray that this little one is going to make it 🙏

THEY'RE HERE!

Sorry guys I was so tired when mum finished farrowing fully. I wanted to make sure all her afterbirth had come out and piglets happy before leaving them to go to bed. Finally got to bed at about 4am this morning 🙈

They are a beautiful litter of 8 but they are premature and we're going to have to monitor them closely as most of them still have their eyes closed. Normally piglets are born with them open.

It just shows what effect the extreme heat can cause. I don't think mum or the piglets were really ready to be born yet, but they're here and we'll do our best to help them survive 🙏

Laura is showing early signs that her piglets might arrive soon!

She hasn't eaten much today and is starting to become a little restless.
I even tried her favourite food of strawberries and grapes but she only ate one grape ☹️ .
Bless her she is HUGE! 🙈 And I think she is very uncomfortable in this heat. Despite our best efforts to offer shade and wallow areas it's still been very hot.

Maybe we can guess when they arrive?
Her milk has started coming in and can be expressed by some of her teats.

Between days 109 and 112 days gestation the piglets will be classed as premature I'm a little worried as we are quite early but If she can hang on until Tuesday which will be 109 days gestation then we will be ok.

The extreme heat and large litter size can bring on early labour. So let's hope there's not too many piggies in there !!

How have they grown so much!
Now just over 4 weeks old. Mum's starting to look a bit slim now so we need to make sure she's getting plenty of grub 🍏

7 have lovely homes to go to with some new very excited pig parents. Just Two boars remaining 🐷🐷
