Just a little update following on from yesterday’s announcement.

I completely understand that cancelling everybody’s appointments this week has disappointed and upset some people, and I’m genuinely sorry for that 😔.

I just wanted to explain my reasoning a little further.

I cancelled all appointments because it felt like the fairest way to reassess my diary and prioritise the dogs that genuinely couldn’t comfortably wait in this heat (albeit with me or another groomer), rather than deciding who to cancel and who to keep.

As you can see from the forecast below, temperatures are expected to reach 28°C tomorrow and remain very high for the rest of the week. Being a wooden building, my salon gets significantly hotter than the outside temperature, especially once the dryers are running. Unfortunately, my portable air conditioning simply can’t keep up.

I’m therefore working from 7:00am every morning this week to fit in as many of the dogs that genuinely need grooming as I safely can before the temperature rises to much inside. A huge thank you to those of you who have already been so understanding and flexible. It really is appreciated. ❤️

Please understand that every decision I’ve made has been with the welfare of your dogs at the heart of it. I know not everyone will agree with my decision, but I would never forgive myself if I carried on as normal and a dog became unwell or collapsed on me because of the heat.

Finally, I’d just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been so understanding, not only about this week’s changes but also about my decision to reduce my working days going forward.

The kind comments, messages and support I’ve received over the last 24 hours have genuinely meant more to me than you’ll ever know. Thank you for your patience, your understanding and, most importantly, for putting the welfare of your dogs first alongside me. It really is appreciated.

🐾 Important Salon Update - please read fully 🐾

Hi everyone,

As most of you know, my salon simply isn’t equipped for the high temperatures we’re currently experiencing (whatever happened to just one week of summer?! 🤷‍♀️😆).

Being a wooden structure, it becomes incredibly hot inside, and my portable air conditioning unit is about as useful as a chocolate teapot! 🍫🫖 I have to put the wellbeing of your pooches first, and it’s simply not safe or fair on them, or on myself, to be grooming in those conditions. It also leaves me with the incredibly difficult task of trying to fit everyone into early morning appointments when my diary is already so full.

With temperatures forecast to reach 28-30°C again this week, I’ve made the difficult decision to cancel all appointments for the coming week.

If you’re concerned that your dog genuinely can’t comfortably wait, please send me a message. I’ll review each situation individually and, where I feel it’s appropriate, I’ll do my very best to offer an early morning appointment before the temperatures become too high.

Whilst making this decision, I’ve also done a great deal of thinking this weekend about the future of my business as a whole.

Many of you know the last 18 months have been incredibly difficult for me personally, and although I genuinely believed I’d be ready to return after taking some time away, it’s become clear that I need to make some changes to create a better work-life balance and decide what the future looks like for me.

Going forward, with immediate effect, I’ll be reducing my grooming business to Mondays and Tuesdays only.

Unfortunately, this means I won’t have enough appointments to continue grooming all of my existing clients. My diary will therefore be based around the limited appointments I have available.

Over the coming days I’ll be in touch with those clients I have capacity to accommodate within my new working pattern regarding future appointments. If you don’t hear from me, I’d encourage you to make alternative grooming arrangements moving forward.

I completely understand that these changes won’t work for everyone, and I’m truly sorry for any disappointment or inconvenience this may cause.
