Today’s little project was putting in this door from the stable straight into the mare and foal paddock. It means no more escapee baby on the way from the stable into the field (he isn’t very good at following mummy and I’m often on my own taking them out 🫣) both seem to approve of the new free will provided!

A successful day out to the Norfolk and Suffolk Arabian Horse Group show at Forest Edge Equestrian Arena this afternoon.

🥉 for Highedge Explorer in the standard 2/3 year old class who took offence to the judges skirt but otherwise did a lovely trot around.

🥈 for Fenlandrose Gaia in the miniature yearling class who behaved like an angel.

🥇 for Fenlandrose Chai in the miniature mare class who got several compliments for her movement, she’s always a pleasure to take out.
🏆 champion miniature.
🏆 overall res reserve supreme champion shetland.

Thank you to Beth for taking photos of the ponies on our arrival home because if there’s no photographer did we even go showing?! 😅

Thank you also to Angie and Jill for holding ponies between classes for me. Lovely afternoon out catching up with friends.

It was a sunny but thankfully cooler morning out at Suffolk Show (Official) with Highedge Erika who was rather excited to see lots of boys today and took a bit of a liking to one in the ring which didn’t help her show and decided standing for the judge was far less fun than looking at said boy! The little sass pot was full of it today but with it being her first county show and only third ever show I’ll let her off, she still looked beautiful 🖤

Great to catch up with people and have a wander around the show with Beth, finding a lovely mare and foal print in one of the craft tents so that obviously had to come home with us.

It was finally cool enough last night to have Thumbs and Raisin out for a couple of hours. He definitely needed a run around, he was climbing the walls, and poor mummy!

Back to 35 degrees today so inside with the fans on again. 🪭 🥵

We’ve also hosed down the yard with cold water. What are your top tips for keeping your ponies cool in this weather? 🧊 🌞

Introducing “Fenlandrose Hellraiser” 🧡

Dam-Snelsmore Thumbelina
Sire- Tygwyn Black Prince

We are on the letter H this year so his dad Ozzy was the inspiration for his name with Hellraiser being an Ozzy Osbourne song.

He arrived on Friday evening and presented as a red bag but in the correct position. Thankfully we were on hand and we got him delivered without any issues although rather fast. Thumbelina struggled to pass her placenta and then had a bad episode of colic so the vet was called and after some of the good drugs she was comfortable and has made significant improvements thankfully.

Raisin hasn’t hung around and his IGG showed he consumed more than enough colostrum and is happily drinking, sleeping and running around the stable.

We are thrilled with him! Thank you to team Shawdene for allowing us to use Ozzy, what a star he is!
