Today Miley and myself got an invite to Embers Pawty 🥳

Ember had a fab time and non stop wagging tail, she definitely knew it was her birthday and looked so cute in her little rosette.

Here’s to all the dog walkers who have had to cancel walks this week.

To the ones living paycheck to paycheck, making the heartbreaking decision to put the welfare of the dogs first — even when rent is due, bills are piling up, and the food shop still needs paying for.

You are my heroes.

I feel incredibly lucky that my main outgoings are my vehicles, because I know for so many others, these weather extremes are hitting hard. And sadly, this is becoming our new normal — wet winters, unbearable spring and summer heat, one extreme after another.

Over the couple of years, so many new dog walkers have started their businesses, stepping into this industry at one of the toughest times imaginable.

The weather hasn’t just affected our income — it’s affected our mental health too. The stress, the uncertainty, the constant worry… it takes its toll.

And on top of all that, the cost of living has risen so dramatically.

Fuel costs, vehicle maintenance, insurance, food prices, rent, mortgages, utilities — everything has gone up, while many of us are earning less because of cancelled walks and unsafe temperatures.

It’s an exhausting balance trying to keep a business afloat while also trying to survive personally. For so many dog walkers, it feels like no matter how hard we work, we’re constantly trying to catch up.

But still, we keep going.

Why?

Because this is more than just a job to us. It’s a lifestyle. It’s a passion. It’s something we pour our whole hearts into every single day.

No matter the weather, no matter the setbacks, we continue showing up because we love these dogs like they’re our own.

So to every dog walker struggling quietly this week — I see you, I respect you, and I hope you’re proud of yourself for putting the dogs first, even when it costs you.

With temperatures quickly building and heading into the summer I want to remind everyone that I take your dogs safety very seriously and will take extra precaution.

I will adapt or switch walks for fun and games in the cool of your home where I feel it's essential for their wellbeing.

I always carry water with me. Walks will be taken at a slower pace and in the shade of the trees and plenty of paddling for those that love a little dip!

I will message directly on the day to let clients know if I have swapped walks to home stays.

I always treat and care for your dogs like my own and ultimately their safety and wellbeing is my top priority.

My sons told me I need to make my videos a little more exciting so I let him take the reins.....

Meg is a sweet soul and is proof that no matter your age, embrace life and enjoy the simple pleasures.

We took a slower pace but she most definitely is determined and led us to her favourite place, knowing exactly what route to take.

A half way stop for a treat and little massage and off we went again happily sniffing away.

To end my visit we concluded with some puzzles back at home for extra engagement.

I said my goodbyes and left a sprinkling of a few tiny treats for her to find after I'd left.

A very happy, content and tired girl ready to take a nap until her owners return home.

This is an example of why I love 1-1 dog walks.

The walk is purely their walk, they lead me to where they want to go, after all it's their walk.

Freyas loved checking in on how the ducklings are and its really beneficial to be able to stop and allow your dog to process their surroundings.

This sensory stimulation provides mental enrichment.
