Veterinary Cardiologist Mark Overend visited Priory to give our vets a practical training session on ultrasounds. This was a great chance for all of our vets to refresh their skillsets and practice scanning, as well as learn some new tips and tricks!

Thank you to Mark and of course the lovely P**i for being such a star model!✨

Tortoise Tuesday!🐢

🐢Turbo the Hermanns Tortoise visited vet Marcus for a little beak trim! ✂️💚

Just like nails, a tortoise’s beak grows continuously and can sometimes become overgrown, making it difficult for them to eat properly. Turbo’s beak had become a little too long, so he came in for a quick “beak shave” to get everything back to normal! 🥬🐢

The procedure is completely painless, and Turbo was a very good boy throughout his visit! ⭐

📢 Lymington Branch Update! 🐾

We’re excited to announce that we are now able to carry out surgeries at our Lymington branch! ✨

We are currently able to offer:
🔹 Cat spays
🔹 Cat castrates
🔹 Routine dog castrates
🔹 Ear flushes
🔹 A**l sac flushes

Subject to staffing availability, we may also be able to perform:
🔹 Simple mass removals

🔹 Stitch-ups
🔹 Biopsies

Reminder for over the Bank Holiday weekend! ☀️🐾

As lovely as it is to see the sunshine, please take extra care with your pets in the warm weather.

We advise walking dogs early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid the hottest parts of the day. Always take fresh water with you on walks and try to prevent your dogs from drinking seawater, as this can make them unwell.

Ensure all of your pets have plenty of shade and constant access to fresh water throughout the day.💧

Please watch out for:
🐾 Excessive panting or difficulty breathing
🐾 Drooling more than usual
🐾 Lethargy or weakness
🐾 Vomiting or diarrhoea
🐾 Bright red gums or tongue
🐾 Confusion, wobbling, or collapse

If you have any concerns regarding your pet in the heat, please contact us immediately.

Stay safe and have a lovely bank holiday weekend!☀️

7-year-old Cocker Spaniel Henry has been visiting Vet Imogen regularly over the past few months for ongoing gastrointestinal issues, and they’ve formed a lovely bond during his treatment.❤️

Henry is full of energy, very affectionate, and gives so much back in return. He’s an angel for his blood tests and has even learned how to get himself up onto the consult table ready for his examinations!

An absolute star patient who is thankfully heading in the right direction. 🐾

Grass seed season is here! 🌱🐾

Grass seeds may look harmless, but they can cause serious problems and discomfort. They can become trapped in paws, ears, eyes, noses, and even under the skin, leading to pain, swelling, and infection.

Make sure to familiarise yourself with the signs and check your dog after every walk. 🐶

If you think your dog has a grass seed or you are unsure, please contact us!

As we head into the summer months, please keep an eye out for signs of flystrike in your rabbits and guinea pigs. ☀️🐰🐹

Flystrike happens when flies lay eggs on soiled or wet fur, usually around the tail area. The eggs then hatch into maggots that burrow into the skin, causing severe pain and suffering.

Make sure you’re familiar with the signs of flystrike and are keeping up with preventative care measures.

Flystrike is a veterinary emergency and early treatment is vital.

If you notice your rabbit or guinea pig is showing any of these signs, please book an appointment for a check-up as an emergency! 01202 484466
