Sights and Sniffs Dog Walking

Sights and Sniffs Dog Walking Walks and home visits to meet your dog's individual needs. Based in Christchurch Dorset. DBS checked and Insured. CPD Pet Sitting and Dog Walking Diploma. Hello!

As a pet owner myself, I know how disconcerting it is having to leave your much-loved pet under the care of others, especially someone you don’t know. I hope telling you a little about myself will help alleviate some fears and offer a little reassurance. My name is Joanna. My life has always been very animal centered, most recently with cats, dogs and horses. I am very passionate about animal welf

are, committed to providing the absolute best for all animals in my care. I am naturally a quiet person, friendly, gentle and patient. My previous work has always been in positions of trust. I worked with young children in a pre-school setting for many years, often taking on the role of 1:1 support worker for children with special educational needs. Most recently, I worked as a private cleaner for those who needed a bit of extra help around the home. My decision to take up cleaning was made following the diagnosis of my horses ill health. With my commitment to him as my driving force, cleaning provided me with the flexible hours I required to meet his increased need. I nursed him for 2 years until he sadly passed. The passing of my beloved horse has, in part, fuelled my decision to push forward with my dream of working with animals. So here is Sights and Sniffs!

Very sadly over the weekend we had to say goodbye to another member of the Sights and Sniffs family.

Dear Nero was the sweetest old boy and an absolute bundle of happiness.
He was already in his older years when I met him and I couldn't help but instantly fall in love.

We enjoyed many gentle potters which would always include his favourite sniffy treat game. That boy loved his food! I would get a good telling off bark if I was too slow to present his 'hello' treat!
He had so many friends. His hearing for a certain friends mobility scooter was incredible. He would hear it from right down the road and drag me to find him. He had the best biscuits you see!

Such a special old boy who is already so very missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Sleep well Nero, you were a very good boy ❤️ x

It has been such a crazy busy week!
So many dogs, so many walks and a personal best of over 29,000 steps on Tuesday alone.

Visiting this little dude gave me an opportunity to get off my feet and join him in a bit of garden relaxation. Isn't he gorgeous!

In memory of Tink 🩷

Earlier this week we very sadly had to say goodbye to Tink following a very quick deterioration in her health.

Tink was such a happy girl. Her tail was constantly wagging and absolutely everyone was her best friend.
She was crazy, funny and had very little concept of personal space! If you sat down Tink was sitting on you!

Walking was a challenge to start with. That girl was not a fan!
She would plant her feet as soon as we were out the door, but once I'd cracked the 'Tink code' we were off!

She loved the water. On our walks, my job was to hold on tight as she ran us to the river, then do my best to stay at least a little bit dry!

I had so much fun with Tink. I'm so lucky to have known her and she is already so very missed. Sending all my love to her family and many friends.

Rest in Peace Tinker Tot, you were an absolute pleasure x

We did really well avoiding much of the rain this week. Lots of sniffy adventures were had 🐾 💚

I'm very behind with my photos once again!
Here's a little collection of the ones I can share since I've been back from my break.

I've been lucky to revisit a few familiar faces as well as meeting a few new 🤗🐾

What a lovely review. I am so fortunate I get to help such lovely families!

This post could save a dog's life - please share! 🚨

The best thing to do when your dog is overheating is cool first, transport second. This means acting fast to stop further heating, cooling the dog down, and then taking them to your nearest vet.

When every second counts, knowing what to do can mean the difference between life and death.

Here’s the signs of heatstroke and first-aid every dog owner should know: https://bit.ly/3ZyghAU
