Sights and Sniffs Dog Walking

Sights and Sniffs Dog Walking Walks and home visits to meet your dog's individual needs. Based in Christchurch Dorset. DBS checked and Insured. CPD Pet Sitting and Dog Walking Diploma. Hello!

As a pet owner myself, I know how disconcerting it is having to leave your much-loved pet under the care of others, especially someone you don’t know. I hope telling you a little about myself will help alleviate some fears and offer a little reassurance. My name is Joanna. My life has always been very animal centered, most recently with cats, dogs and horses. I am very passionate about animal welf

are, committed to providing the absolute best for all animals in my care. I am naturally a quiet person, friendly, gentle and patient. My previous work has always been in positions of trust. I worked with young children in a pre-school setting for many years, often taking on the role of 1:1 support worker for children with special educational needs. Most recently, I worked as a private cleaner for those who needed a bit of extra help around the home. My decision to take up cleaning was made following the diagnosis of my horses ill health. With my commitment to him as my driving force, cleaning provided me with the flexible hours I required to meet his increased need. I nursed him for 2 years until he sadly passed. The passing of my beloved horse has, in part, fuelled my decision to push forward with my dream of working with animals. So here is Sights and Sniffs!

Some of us managed to get out for a quick sniff before returning to the fans and cooling mats. I introduced some new toys and games this week and we've had a great time! 🐾

🌞 How hot is too hot to walk your dog? 🐾

As the temperature rises, so does the risk of heatstroke. Even a short walk on a warm day can be dangerous for your dog.

🐢 Use this as a general guide only.

βœ”οΈ Walk your dog during the coolest parts of the day – early morning or late evening.
βœ”οΈ Avoid over exercising.
βœ”οΈ Always take fresh water with you.

Please take extra care with:
🐾 Puppies
🐾 Senior dogs
🐾 Overweight dogs
🐾 Dogs with underlying health conditions
🐾 Flat-faced breeds such as Pugs, French Bulldogs, English Bulldogs and Boxers

If you're unsure, it's always safer to skip the walk and keep your dog cool at home.

Lots of early slow walks, comfort breaks and enrichment this week β˜€οΈ Puzzle toys and sniffy games have been keeping brains busy, with cooling dips in the water for the few able to get out and about.

It looks like we are in for another hot one next week. If anyone would like to switch their visits to an early walk to beat the heat, please let me know 🐾

β˜€οΈπŸΎ Help us spread the message this summer – WET THEN VET!

Living on the coast and beside the New Forest, we're lucky to have so many wonderful places to enjoy with our pets. But even on days that don't feel especially hot, warm weather, humidity and exercise can quickly cause pets to overheat.

Every summer, our emergency and out-of-hours teams treat pets with heatstroke, and we know just how quickly it can become a life-threatening emergency.

πŸ’¦ If you think your pet is overheating, start cooling them immediately. Early recognition and prompt cooling are the biggest factors in improving their chances of recovery. Then contact your vet straight away.

Lets keep our pets safe this summer.πŸ’šπŸΆπŸ±
