☀️ Heatwaves can catch you and your dog off guard faster than you think.

💧 Make sure your dog has plenty of fresh water, access to shade, and somewhere cool indoors to stretch out and rest. Cooling mats, frozen treats, safe water play, or even a cool damp towel to lie on can all help take the edge off the heat.

🚨 It’s just as important to know when your dog is not coping. Heavy panting, lots of drooling, restlessness, wobbliness, vomiting, or suddenly seeming very tired are all signs to take seriously.

If that happens, move your dog somewhere cool and well-ventilated straight away, offer small amounts of cold water, start cooling them down with the water, and call your vet as soon as you can 📞

Spaying has clear benefits, but it is still a decision worth thinking through carefully.

On the plus side, it prevents pregnancy, stops future seasons, removes the risk of pyometra, and can reduce the risk of some reproductive cancers. For some dogs, it can also mean fewer issues linked to false pregnancies and season-related disruption.

On the other hand, it is still a surgical procedure, and the timing is not always straightforward. Spaying should be considered in the context of the individual dog, rather than treated as exactly the same choice for every breed or life stage.
