Callie teaching my homebred Rio to accept the bridle being put on and using force free methods. We are shaping the behaviour we want, in this video he targets her hand first and you can see him trying to work out what we are asking of him, the minute he touches the bridle with his nose, Callie marks it with the marker word “yes” removes the bridle and rewards him. We then progressed that and he would target the bit and then get the reward, he now opens his mouth in anticipation and acceptance of the bridle and bit being put on. This is the only time we have used food with Rio, his favourite reward is a scratch on the neck or withers 🥰 C G Equine

I thought I would share this lovely video, we are busy socialising our puppy Fig, socialisation isn’t just about meeting other dogs, it’s about exposure and seeing the world in a safe way. Driving your puppy to new places, letting them sniff and gather information is important. This video shows Kaylie body blocking and feeding Fig when a car comes past, it meant Fig felt safe and happy eating her food (well she is a Labrador 😂🙈) and pairing something that could potentially worry her with something yummy was a positive experience for her.
