Following on from yesterday's advice.
How to spot the signs of heatstress and heatstroke in dogs.
Keep them cool and out of the sun 🌡️🔥😎

🚨HEATSTOKE KILLS DOGS🚨

It doesn’t always have to be ‘hot’ for an animal to develop heatstroke. Exercising excessively in warm weather, or being left in a warm or humid environment that is poorly ventilated can cause animals to quickly overheat. Avoidance is always best, but it’s important to know the signs of heatstroke so that you can treat your dog appropriately and know when to seek veterinary attention should they be unfortunate enough to suffer from it.

If you are concerned that your pet is overheating, you should act immediately, as heatstroke can rapidly become a life-threatening emergency; We recommend to “cool first, transport second” as the immediate first aid response for dogs with heatstroke. Owners should also seek veterinary advice as soon as possible.

🔆🔥🌡️As the weather is forecast warm for this week, why not book a session in our Sensory Shed to tire them out?

As the British weather is starting to warm up, it’s a good idea to familiarise yourself with what temperatures are safe for your dog☀️🐶

Every year our vets treat hundreds of heat stroke cases and, heartbreakingly, some end in tragedy. Many are unfortunately a result of owners not knowing the dangers of exercising their dogs in temperatures too hot for them to handle.

Heat-related illnesses are almost always preventable. DONT TAKE THE RISK and make sure your pet isn’t overheating in the sun.

If you think your dog may be suffering from heat stroke, contact your vet immediately or, if out-of-hours, find your nearest emergency vet.
Remember, Get them WET and get them to the Vet!

⁉️What sort of dogs is the Sensory Shed suitable for?
🐶🐩🦮🐕‍🦺 Any and every dog!
🐾 The room is suitable for puppies, it will help to build confidence. Exposing pups to different environments in a safe manner is the best way of socialising them and setting them up to be calm and confident.
🧩 We have different textured mats on the floor for them to walk on. Lots of different places to hide treats, some are static and some move.
🧠 Having to engage their brain and work out how to get the treats is a fantastic mental workout.
🥾 Puppies, really shouldn't be overwalked. This can put undue strain on their joints that can lead to issues later in their lives, such as early onset arthritis.

🐾 Reactive dogs. Does your dog find the big bad world a little too overwhelming?
The Sensory shed is a perfect safe haven for them.
🐶 The room is hired for your sole use and we have a buffer time before the next booking to save overlapping.
🚪The Sensory Shed has a separate entrance from the shop, and is totally enclosed, so no need to meet other people or dogs.

🐾 Older Dogs. Keeping the cognitive skills sharp, keeps your dogs younger for longer. So if their mobility is limited and long walks are no longer possible. Bring them for a lovely sniffari.

🐾🩺 Dogs recovering from surgery. Are you dogs on restricted exercise post surgery and they are driving you mad? The room is small enough to not over exert them, but will mentally tire them out.

A mentally tired dog is a rested, more relaxed dog.

🐶🐶 Multiple dogs from the same household only, please ask for size suitability before booking.
🧩 Our room is designed to be small. This is a mental and olfactory workout for your dog/s not a physical one.
