Just a brief note for all concerned.
Our yard at Brahan does not have strangles, we have No horses with symptoms at present or any horses that have been in any contact with infected horses.
There has been ONE confirmed case of strangles which is in a horse which is NOT kept on a yard within the Ross shire/Inverness/ Black Isle area IE it is kept OUWITH our area. The source has also been identified and that came from the south. The second suspected case has NOT yet tested positive and at present has NO symptoms other than swollen glands.
The infected horse did attend the SERC ride at Brahan on Sunday 26th April, it was parked away from our buildings and yard and did not enter our facilities at all therefore the risk to any of our own or livery horses is very low.
We will continue to monitor the situation and be completely transparent with everyone if the situation changes and would appreciate that all other yards that these horses have come into contact with do the same.
