☀️🧹🪣💦☀️🧹🪣💦☀️🧹🪣💦☀️🧹🪣☀️🧹Oh dear me! What hot work it’s been this year! 🫧
Today has seen us complete the painting and oiling of the boarding and panelling. It’s lovely seeing the yard all fresh and clean and ready for another winter.
Over the course of next few days we will assist livery clients in power hosing and disinfecting their mats before they are returned to the stables.
Feed bins and stable tools will all get a wash down before they are put back in place so I guess we are winter ready! 🍁🍂❄️
Next on the list is some fence maintenance ahead of the horses moving into their winter grazing.

Phase two of our annual hose down is underway. The stables have been cleared together with the tack and feed room. Everywhere has been swept out and I am in with the leaf blower today blowing away the cob webs, dust and any remaining sawdust, clearing the area before we come in with the power hose. It’s going to be a busy week.

🐴🐴🐴🐴We have 2 DIY Grass Livery spaces for geldings available at our small, private BHS Approved Livery Yard on the outskirts of Dingwall.
We cater for just a small number of liveries but have great facilities including a purpose built stable block, large flood lit outdoor arena, fantastic set of jumps and well maintained paddocks.

💦Well that’s the hay shed done. It’s had a thorough sweep out 🧹 and power wash 💦 and has been disinfected all the way down from the rafters in the roof, to the concrete floor. It’s gleaming and smelling fresh! We will let it dry out over the next couple of days and then bring in this winters supply of hay and bedding.

Stage two of the hose down commences in a couple of weeks when the main stable block, tie up areas, tack and feed rooms receive the same treatment plus a lick of paint.

It’s a lot of work but it’s the only way to keep the stables looking tip top and ensuring that we are providing a clean and safe environment for our liveries.

☀️ The hay is made and that can only mean one thing! 🐴. It’s time to start our annual hose down! 💦
Our livery clients have had a sort out and labeled their bedding and forage which we have moved into an adjacent shed. Anything not required going into this winter has been disposed of so that once the hose down has been completed this winters supply of hay and bedding will be going into a clean fresh shed.
🧹🪣I have been in with the shovel, brush and the leaf blower and the shed is now ready for power hosing and disinfecting.

Last week was tremendous and gave us a terrific window of good weather to make this years hay. It was undoubtedly the best conditions we have had for a number of years to make it and what a difference making hay while the sun shines makes!

It’s a truly magnificent day for some paddock maintenance ahead of the horses moving onto their summer grazing later this week.
This amazing spell of weather enabled us to get into the paddocks early to harrow and treat for weeds several weeks ago. Today we are doing a final check of the fences and water supplies and I’ve mown the walkways for easier access.

🍂 October sees us make the transition from our summer routine to our winter one, with all our liveries moving onto their winter grazing and stabling over night.
The location of the winter paddocks and their proximity to the stables and hay shed makes the chores of the winter routine as bearable as possible!
Summer paddocks are resting and the arena lights really come into their own for exercising horses after work.
