Everyone meet Thalia, she came in to see our Vet Dan for her hip and elbow scores. She was such a pleasure for the team to look after 🩷

Hip and elbow scoring is a screening process that looks at the structure of a dog’s hips and elbows using X-rays. Each hip and elbow is given a score, and the lower the score, the healthier the joints. This information helps breeders make informed, responsible decisions about which dogs are suitable for breeding.

By choosing to breed only from dogs with good hip and elbow scores, we can reduce the risk of inherited joint problems such as hip dysplasia and help give puppies the best possible start in life. 🐶

You may have recently seen the Panorama program on UK corporate vets.

WE ARE NOT A CORPORATE VET PRACTICE.

We are proudly owned and run by Dan and Lucy, our local vets and owners, and we are a franchise veterinary practice under the umbrella of Vets for Pets. The program in fairness highlighted the difference between our model and that of other corporate giant groups.

ALL of our clinical decisions and pricing policies are set locally by the team on the ground, and we never set arbitrary financial targets for any of our staff. All of our vets have absolute clinical autonomy to recommend the best treatment to suit each of our patient’s needs and owners’ budgets.

Unfortunately there are some corporate practices that have targets set centrally by managers and financial a**lysts and are totally removed from day to day clinical practice. We wholeheartedly disagree with their approach to veterinary practice.

- We are open 7 days a week, and do not charge additional fees for weekend appointments for our clients
- We publish our prices for our most common procedures in our reception area and online.
- We provide written estimates for more complex procedures.
- We are always able to adjust our investigation/treatment plan to suit any budget.
- We offer discounted veterinary services as part of our Complete Care Plan.
